Chapter 500 Are You Sure?
“Grandma…”

Brie tried to loop her arm around Victoria and act cute, but Victoria shoved her away and shifted farther down the couch.
“Go away. Stop bothering me.”
Ever since Brie hurt Danica, Victoria had held a grudge, and her attitude toward Brie had completely changed.
She pressed her lips together, unsure what to do.
After they learned that she was the one who pushed Danica, everyone in the Woods had started treating her differently.
She had already apologized, and she had been more attentive than ever in taking care of Victoria, yet Victoria still refused to forgive
her.
Brie could clearly feel it now–Victoria was cold toward her, Aspen was cold toward her, and Geneva had always treated her lukewarm at best because of Cassia.
The only one still somewhat kind to her was Vance.
At this point, there was probably nothing she could do to change things. All she could hope for was that Vego University’s admission score this year wouldn’t be too high. As long as she got in, and as long as she remained part of the Woods, maybe, over time, she could win back their favor.
But what if she couldn’t?
She had thought about that too.
If even getting into Vego University didn’t help, then during her four years studying in Vrastin, she would have to land herself a rich boyfriend.
Once she married into money and became a wealthy socialite, she would settle in Vrastin for good.
At that point, it wouldn’t matter how the Woods saw her anymore. In fact, they might even try to curry favor with her instead.
Thinking that, her mood improved a little.
She moved away from Victoria and said, “Grandma, I passed by Citywalk Mall earlier and saw Cassia. She got into a black luxury car with that Mr. Grey. It looked like they were heading out to dinner together.”
“A luxury car? You’re sure you didn’t see wrong?” Victoria finally turned her head, surprise and doubt written all over her face.
“I’m sure. I don’t know cars as well as Aspen, but I recognize basic logos. It was a Mercedes S–Class.”
In Victoria’s mind, that “Mr. Grey” was just a good looking but otherwise ordinary man.
She didn’t work anymore, and besides occasionally meeting friends, she spent much of her free time reading magazines and books to keep up with upper–class culture.
She clearly remembered seeing an article about the Mercedes S–Class in an auto magazine–it cost well over 330,000 dollars, a true luxury car.

And now Brie was saying that Mr. Grey, who used to drive an ordinary Volkswagen worth barely a fraction of that, was suddenly riding in a car worth hundreds of thousands?
“Are you sure?” Victoria asked again, still skeptical.
Brie had lied too many times before; Victoria wasn’t ready to believe her easily.
Even if it were true, she figured the man probably rented the car just to show off.
“Anyway, I saw him get into it,” Brie insisted.
She still hadn’t mentioned that she had once seen Draven driving a Maybach in an alley late one night.
Thinking of Draven’s almost unreal good looks, Victoria sighed inwardly. No wonder Cassia is so taken with him, she thought.
Girls that age always noticed a handsome face first.
Unlike her, she believed choosing a partner meant looking at the whole picture–especially financial strength.
Good looks alone meant nothing.
With that thought, she stood up, walked to the landline phone, and dialed Cassia’s number.
Cassia had already blocked her cell phone, but maybe she would answer an unfamiliar number from the house phone.
Meanwhile, Seven drove Draven’s Mercedes S–Class smoothly down the road.
In the back seat, Cassia sat beside Draven.
She had just leaned back for a short nap when the sudden ringtone woke her up.
“Hello?”
“Cassia, I’m calling from the house phone,” Victoria said.
“Yeah.”
Cassia brushed her messy bangs aside and yawned softly.
Before she could say anything else, Victoria went straight to the point. “I heard you’ve been getting very close lately to a man named Mr. Grey?”
Hearing that, Cassia glanced sideways at Draven.
When their eyes met, the sharp look in his eyes softened instantly, warmth filling his gaze.
Cassia only held the look for a few seconds before turning away.
“You called just to ask about that?” she said in a calm, indifferent tone.
Her flat voice made Victoria strangely irritated.
