The Woods never give her any allowance, so how could she possibly have the money to build a road?
Still, Cassia earned millions every month in donations alone from her novels. So, building a road should be more than affordable for her.
Rosalie felt that since her father had known Cassia for a long time, he likely understood the truth.
Whether it was true or not, she could always ask him when she got back home.
At the same time, over at Wood Manor.
Aspen planned to visit Vance at the detention center.
Brie had gone out to meet her classmates, and Geneva had taken Danica shopping. Victoria was alone at home with nothing to do. When she heard Aspen was going to see Vance, she decided to tag along.
Soon, the two of them arrived at the detention center. When Victoria saw Vance crouched behind the metal bars, looking noticeably thinner, she clutched her chest, her heart aching for him.
Aspen sat down, spoke a few words of concern, then got straight to the point. “Dad, Mr. Wilcox called this afternoon, asking about a blind date. Are you planning to set Cassia up?”
The reason Aspen suddenly came today was because of that unexpected call from the owner of Wilcox Group, Justin Wilcox, while he was at work.
Aspen had already taken over Vance’s duties and was now running the Wood Group. To ensure a smooth transition, he had been keeping Vance’s phone with him lately.
When Justin called Vance’s number and Aspen answered, he asked, “Why isn’t your father picking up?”
For the sake of the company’s reputation, Aspen couldn’t tell Justin that Vance had been taken into custody. So, he told Justin that Vance ad not been feeling well recently, and that he was temporarily managing the company.
After hearing that, Justin asked when the blind date Vance had mentioned between Cassia and his son, Mike, would take place.
Aspen had no idea what he was talking about.

“Mr. Wilcox, please don’t worry about this. I’ll confirm this with my father first.”
After ending the call, Aspen headed straight to the detention center after work.
Since inmates could not be contacted privately by phone, he had no choice but to make the trip.
“Now that you mention it, I remember,” Vance said as he looked at Aspen. “I did agree to arrange a meeting between Cassia and Mr. Wilcox’s son.”
“Why? Cassia just finished her senior year and is about to start college. There’s no need for her to get married so early.” Aspen frowned, unable to understand his father’s logic.
“That girl has gotten completely out of control. Even as part of the Woods, she goes against us at every turn. Getting her married sooner will help her settle down.”
Vance didn’t say that it was actually for the benefit of the Woods‘ business.
He continued, “Cassia is turning 18 this year. After her birthday this year, she will reach the legal age for marriage. The timing is just right.”
His expression and tone made him seem like a caring father looking out for his daughter.
“Once she has a family of her own, I can finally stop worrying.”
“But Dad, Cassia already has a boyfriend.”
Aspen knew that Mike was short, unattractive, and useless. He was nowhere near good enough for Cassia.
So whether Cassia truly had a boyfriend or not, he decided to use that “Mr. Grey” as an
excuse.
“A boyfriend? You mean that Mr. Grey?”
Aspen looked at Vance in surprise.
“So
you knew? Then why are you still setting her up on a blind date?”
“Do you even know what kind of man Mr. Grey?” Vance stared straight at Aspen and pressed him. “Would you really let your sister marry someone whose background is a complete mystery? You know Cassia’s personality. Who knows if Mr. Grey isn’t just someone she made up to spite us?”
Aspen fell silent.

Vance let out a cold laugh and added, “Don’t worry about it. To be honest, Mr. Grey is nothing more than that girl’s sugar daddy. Can that kind of relationship even count as real love?”
“What?”
Aspen’s head snapped up.
Victoria’s face turned pale when she heard that.
“Otherwise, how could she afford to do all those things? How could she pick up so many skills or meet so many big shots? If it isn’t some shady arrangement, why hasn’t she brought this Mr. Grey out in public? Why hasn’t she introduced him to us?”
Aspen had no comeback.
Victoria trembled with anger.
“That wretched girl! I never thought she would do something so disgraceful!”
“That’s exactly why I arranged this blind date for her with Mr. Wilcox’s son. I need to pull her back onto the right path before she sinks any deeper! She just graduated from high school, so there’s still hope. If we wait any longer, she’ll be beyond saving?”
Vance thought about the two times he had crossed paths with Draven recently.
