Lifting Cassia’s limp, powerless arm and seeing how her fingers had turned pale and wrinkled from soaking, Draven’s expression darkened even further, like a storm about to break.
“You can’t stay in there any longer. I’m taking you out.”
After saying that, Draven bent down and lifted Cassia out of the tub.
The moment the cold water was gone, a wave of discomfort hit her, and it only grew stronger.
“No, don’t come any closer. I’m afraid…” Cassia’s words came out hot and shaky as she hurried to speak.
I’m afraid I won’t be able to control myself.
“I won’t touch you.”
Draven carried her into his bedroom and gently set her down on the bed.
Cassia opened her eyes.
She stared at Draven and noticed his shirt collar was pulled open, his clothes and hair slightly disheveled, his handsome face flushed, fine beads of sweat covering his skin.
The longer she looked, the more she forced herself to look away.
Because she was afraid.
She was afraid that if she kept looking, something bad would happen.
Her mind was no longer something she could control.
Just as her thoughts began slipping out of control, the man’s hand suddenly reached over and lightly brushed her forehead.
The cool touch of his palm snapped her back to her senses. Seeing the restraint and quiet composure in his expression, Cassia felt a flicker of embarrassment at her own thoughts.
Draven leaned over, one hand braced against the edge of the bed, looking down at Cassia, who was lightly biting her lip, and froze mid–motion.
The corners of her eyes were red, her gaze unfocused.
After soaking in water, she had curled up like a small hedgehog.
Her lips, bitten down in restraint, were flushed a deep red, and faint, heated breaths slipped from her mouth.
She looked…dangerously alluring.
Draven instinctively licked his dry lips, his throat bobbing.
He had caught every look she gave him earlier.
Just now, he had only reached out because he saw water dripping from her hair and didn’t want it getting into her eyes.

But even now, though her eyes were clearer, there was still a hazy, lingering heat in them, like she might devour him whole.
As the CEO of Grey Group, he had always prided himself on absolute calm and control, yet at this moment, he didn’t know what to
“Do you have any popsicles?”
Suddenly, her hoarse, heated breath brushed against his face.
Cassia turned toward him and asked.
Popsicles could help cool things down.
If she could, she didn’t want things to go that far. She still wanted to try holding out.
“I’ll go buy some.”
Draven stood up and quickly left the room.
In less than ten minutes, he came rushing back with a plastic bag in hand.
That fast?
Cassia struggled to sit up and took the bag from him.
There were popsicles of all kinds of flavors, as well as slushies and ice–cream bars.
Not knowing exactly what she wanted, he had bought a wide variety and still made it back in under ten minutes. That couldn’t have been easy.
Cassia opened the bag and took out a lemon–flavored popsicle, starting to eat.
After finishing one, her condition didn’t improve.
She drank the slushie and ate the ice–cream bar as well, but there was still no change…
Draven had gone to five different shops and bought more than ten types of ice cream.
If it were any other time, eating that much cold stuff in one go would’ve had Cassia up all night with a stomachache.
But even after finishing the whole bag, her face was still flushed, her body still burning.
Hours in cold water didn’t work. Eating ice didn’t work…
Cassia’s expression turned bitter.
Does that really mean doing that is the only way to get the poison out for good?
Draven looked just as troubled.
Does it really have to come to that to ease her suffering?
Ever since he brought her out of the café, God knew how many times he had barely managed to hold himself back.

Of course, he knew this wasn’t her fault. She’d been set up, and she wouldn’t blame him.
But…
