Brie looked at the now–lifeless Wood Manor, and it only strengthened her resolve to go to Vrastin and land herself a rich heir.
And that 100 million, she had to get it back from that bitch, Cassia, no matter what!
Of course, that was what Brie was thinking inside, but what she told Victoria sounded a whole lot nicer.
Victoria was completely won over by Brie’s words.
Just hearing that eased the pounding in Victoria’s head.
She grabbed Brie’s hand, deeply moved.
“Brie, we treated you so coldly before… You’re not even my son’s biological daughter, yet you’re still thinking about the Woods. I–I…”
As she spoke, Victoria’s eyes reddened, her voice choking up until she couldn’t go on.
“Grandma, please don’t say that.” Brie patted Victoria’s hand and quickly reassured her.
If she couldn’t show off, saying a few sweet words never hurt, but what surprised her was that she’d gotten an unexpected bonus out of it.
“It was my fault for pushing Danica down the stairs last time. You treating me coldly was only fair. It was my punishment. If not for that, I wouldn’t have been able to forgive myself even now.”
Brie spoke with deep emotion, but only she knew what she was really thinking.
Looking at Brie’s sincere attitude, Victoria felt she truly was a good child. Thinking about how she’d treated such a good girl before, she couldn’t help but feel ashamed.
“I forgive you!”
“Grandma!” Brie forced out two tears, threw her arms around Victoria, and buried her face against the old woman’s shoulder, sobbing.
Victoria gently patted Brie’s back.
“I forgive you… I forgive you…”

Once she’d cried enough, Brie asked, “Grandma, the Woods never had any grudges with Cosmo Group. Why would Nicole suddenly buy out our company like that?”
“I don’t know either…” Victoria was troubled by that exact question.
Brie was right. They had no personal conflict with Nicole, so why would Cosmo Group suddenly make a move like this?
It didn’t make sense, no matter how she looked at it.
“Grandma, do you think… it could be because of Cassia?” Brie suddenly shifted the blame onto Cassia.
“What do you mean?”
“I’m just guessing…Cassia knows Nicole, right? So maybe Cassia wanted revenge. She told Nicole everything you did to her,
and then…”
Victoria froze.
Seeing her reaction, Brie quickly waved her hands and added, “I’m just guessing! I don’t think Cassia’s that kind of person. Even if she hates us, she’s still a Woods. She wouldn’t be that cruel…”
The more Brie tried to downplay it, the more it fueled Victoria’s suspicions.
The more Victoria thought about it, the more reasonable Brie’s guess seemed.
Didn’t Vance say before that Nicole spoke to him? Something about not messing with Cassia, or she wouldn’t let it go…
Setting aside whether Nicole really warned Vance, with that girl’s extreme personality, it’s absolutely possible she’d do something like this.
“If this really was Cassia’s doing, then we have to bring her back. Treat her well, take her out, spend more on her, and build up our relationship. Once she cools down and feels happy again, she won’t just come home willingly–she’ll even have Nicole return the company to us.”
Brie’s real goal was simple. No matter what excuse or method they used, getting Cassia back into the Woods was what mattered. After all, only if Cassia came back would there be a real chance of getting that 100 million back.
“Your father said something similar before…”
Victoria let out a deeply frustrated sigh..
