Chapter 1011 Eye for an Eye
The sight of Stella in tears sent a jolt through Marie’s heart.
“Wait, what is all this?”

“What happened? Why are you crying?”
“It’s Tessa,” Stella managed between sobs. “She’s been kidnapped.”
“What?” Marie blinked, stunned. “Didn’t she just get back to Noctarth?”
She had barely touched down before being snatched.
Stella sniffled, looking at Marie with an expression so pained she couldn’t find her voice.
“Oh, honey, don’t cry,” Marie cooed, pulling her close. “I’ll have Derrick send his people out. We’ll find her for you.”
She paused, her expression souring. “Wait, what the hell is Victor doing?”
Marie’s dissatisfaction with Victor spiked instantly. The girl was right there with him–how could he let her disappear? And now her little darling was crying her eyes out because of his incompetence.
Derrick followed them inside, only to see Marie fussing over a weeping Stella. Seeing this scene… he felt that familiar sting of jealousy again.
Though Derrick was loath to admit it, part of the reason he had been so brutal when he beat Dan was as a vent for Stella’s sake. He couldn’t lay a finger on Stella, but Dan? Dan was a fair target for every bit of his frustration.
Upon hearing about Tessa’s abduction, Marie grew genuinely anxious. After all, Tessa had been her apprentice for quite some time.
“Damn it! Who’s so blind they’d dare touch a student of mine? Do they think I’ve gone soft?” Marie was truly fuming now.
Stella continued to sob quietly.
“Enough, stop the waterworks,” Marie commanded gently. “I’ll help you get her back, and I’ll deal with whoever did this personally.”
“It’s either Manny or Dale,” Stella whispered.
In Noctarth, they were the only two with the motive to move against Tessa. Most likely, it was Manny. However, if Dale had truly believed the report about his infertility, he might have snapped in a fit of rage against Diana. In that state, he was more than capable of targeting Tessa.
Marie’s breath hitched. “The Morris family, is it? Fine. I’ve got it.”

She turned her gaze toward Derrick.
“Send our people. I want the Morris family wiped out.”

“Dammit, did they not learn their lesson last time? They still have the strength to pull a stunt like this?”
Since they were bold enough to target Tessa, they clearly had a death wish. She was more than happy to oblige.
“I’ll strip them of everything,” Derrick added coldly.
“Do it. Leave nothing.”
There had been rumors that Manny still held hidden assets and underground influence in Noctarth. It seemed those rumors were true. Without some secret leverage, he wouldn’t have dared to touch Tessa; it was an act of open war against Diana.
If it was Manny, there might still be room to negotiate, but regardless of who held her, the situation was incredibly dangerous for Tessa.
With Marie’s approval, Derrick officially joined the fray, turning his sights toward the power players in Noctarth.
In Noctarth.
Because of Tessa’s disappearance, the tension within the Ashen Pact had reached a fever pitch.
At Black Mountain.
Diana stared at Dale, her eyes flashing with a murderous, icy light. She held a white silk handkerchief in her hand, slowly and methodically wiping the barrel of her gun. The movement was fluid, deliberate, and terrifyingly dangerous.
Dale’s expression was equally grim.
Moments later, the butler, Lenny, returned. “Sir, we’ve confirmed it. Mr. Manny’s men took her.”
Diana’s hand stopped mid–wipe.
Dale’s face darkened with a savage intensity. “Find a way to contact that bastard,” he barked at Lenny. “Tell him that if he lays a single finger on Tessa, I will carve the flesh off his mother and sister, piece by piece!”
Every syllable out of Dale’s mouth dripped with cold, lethal intent.
“Yes, sir,” Lenny replied, turning quickly to carry out the order.
Diana looked at Dale, her gaze remains glacial. “You’re certain it wasn’t you?”
“I’m not such a monster that I would harm my own daughter.”

Hearing the words “my own daughter,” Diana remarkably didn’t snap back at him. Now was not the time to argue over Tessa’s parentage. The priority was getting her back.
“Give me Artemis,” Diana said, her voice like cracking ice. “I want her. That’s a fair trade, isn’t it?”
“What do you want with her?” Dale asked.
“Since my daughter is in Manny’s hands, it’s only right his mother stays in mine, don’t you think? Or is it because she’s your precious ‘crush‘ that even now, you can’t bear to let her go?”
”
”
At the mention of the word “crush,” Dale’s expression soured instantly.
A crush? That word felt like a bitter irony now. For all these years, he had held Artemis in the palm of his hand, protecting her above all else… and this was the result.
