Holt spoke with exhaustion.

Every time he was around Marie, her sharp tongue always managed to create some new drama. Holt was utterly weary.
But it had to be said, Marie had thoroughly stoked his suspicions. He, too, was now wondering what Mona was really doing on all those trips to Hamlin.
As if on cue, Marie added another devastating remark: “She’s visited Hamlin more in the last two years than she’s visited Kelly in prison.”
“Wait, has she even visited Kelly at all? Anyone who didn’t know better would think her actual daughter, Kelly, was in Hamlin!”
Holt: “…”
Gary: “Marie, that’s enough!”
Seeing Holt’s expression plummet, Gary finally snapped. “Mom said she’s not visiting Kelly because she’s afraid the Dawson family will cause more trouble! The Dawson family brought this family to ruin, and you have the audacity to say that here?”
Marie: “Fine, fine. I was just raising a question. It’s because we’re family that we need to be honest and open with each other. Isn’t that right, Dad?”
Holt’s face was ashen. Marie wasn’t calling him “Dad” out of respect; she was tossing the entire Tom family into a deep fryer! He couldn’t stand to listen to her any longer. Furious, he stood up and went straight upstairs.
However, less than five minutes later, the sounds of Holt and Mona fighting erupted from upstairs.
It was intense.
They could faintly hear Holt’s roar: “What exactly were you doing in Hamlin?”
“I had no idea you went fifteen times in two years! What were you doing?”
Mona: “What could I possibly be doing? Are you accusing me?”
“I just want to know what you were doing in Hamlin!”
Anger permeated the entire Tom family home. They even heard the sound of something smashing. A cup flew down the stairs, shattering with a loud “CRASH!”

Gary tensed and glared viciously at Marie. “Are you satisfied now?”
Marie shrugged. “I just want us to be an honest and open family. Don’t misunderstand!”
That “honest and open” line was designed to twist the knife. She had already fleeced the Tom family of all its benefits, and now she was talking about “honesty“! What kind of honesty was
that?
Gary didn’t waste any more time on Marie and hurried upstairs.
The entire Tom family home was instantly engulfed in chaos.
Derrick toyed with Marie’s slightly plumper hand while she smiled and cracked sunflower seeds.
“These sunflower seeds are delicious.”
Derrick: “You little devil.”
“So? Do you like this?”
“I love it.”
He truly loved it.
All the frustration he had been forced to swallow from Mona over the years was now being served back to her by Marie. It just proved the saying: “It takes a scoundrel to handle a scoundrel.”
In the past, it wasn’t appropriate for him, a man, to clash directly with Mona. Now Marie had arrived and was grinding Mona’s face into the mud.
Mona had been with Holt for years. Besides a marriage certificate, she had everything.
But she was still restless.
She actually dreamed of having her own daughter replace Stella.
That had struck a nerve with the entire Dawson family. She was going to be living in agony for some time.
Mona’s frequent trips to Hamlin, exposed by Marie’s audit, had fully aroused Holt’s suspicion.
The atmosphere between the two soured. Now, at least, Mona couldn’t just ask Holt for money

without a good reason.
This was Marie’s first move: cutting off her financial resources.

It wasn’t a total cut–off, but the main line of cash was gone. Reese needed a lot of money in Hamlin.
How much could Mona possibly give her now?
The next morning, Marie went straight to the Dawson family for breakfast, completely ignoring the chaos at the Tom family home.
She even brought Derrick.
After breakfast, Derrick went to the company and promptly sidelined Gary.
Everything was proceeding according to plan.
Stella was thrilled as she listened. “That line about visiting Hamlin more than her own daughter… any normal man would get suspicious.”
Marie: “Tsk. She should have known better than to mess with me.”
Mona had really poked a hornet’s nest this time.
If Marie didn’t sting her until she was covered in welts and screaming in pain, it would be a personal failure.
Bzz, bzz, bzz… Stella’s phone vibrated.
It was a call from a Yalvaria number.
She answered. “Hello.”
“Tell Rianne to unblock me.”
Stella raised an eyebrow. “Trying to reach her about Ariana? She’s not the one to talk to about this.”
On the other end of the line, Tempest’s eyes flashed. When he spoke again, his voice was laced with ice. “What do you mean?”
“You hired a lawyer for Ariana, didn’t you? Have your lawyer find out exactly what crimes she
committed in Yalvaria.”
