Holt, however, didn’t want to hear any more. He no longer had the energy to argue with Mona. He simply went upstairs in anger.
Leaving Mona and Gary behind. Gary asked, “Mom, what does Dad mean by this? Has he completely sided with Derrick?”
Mona was already furious. The thought that Gary couldn’t even compete with Derrick made her even more irate. “He already handed control of the family to Marie Hasn’t he been on Derrick’s side for a long time?”
After shouting, Mona also stormed off in anger.
“I’m so furious! I always told you to spend more time at the company, but you wouldn’t listen. Now look, Derrick has snatched everything away.”
In the past, she hadn’t paid much attention to Gary’s shortcomings. But now, with one thing happening after another, Gary was completely powerless to fight back, which infuriated Mona.
Gary froze, rebuked so sharply. He stood in the living room, his face ashen. Thinking of what Derrick and Marie had done to them, his chest ached with rage.
Damn Derrick. Damn Marie!
Mona was about to go find Holt to talk things out, but just as she reached his door, she received a call from Reese.
She had no choice but to turn around, go back downstairs, and walk to the quiet backyard before answering. “I told you not to call me while I’m in Falvaria. I’ll call you when it’s convenient.”
Mona’s voice held none of its usual kindness or warmth. Her mind was in turmoil thanks to Marie; she was in no mood to be gentle.
Reese: “Mom, I’m coming back.”
“What?”
Mona’s breath hitched. Her voice rose instinctively. She quickly glanced around to make sure no one was nearby.
Reese: “Abraham is getting married! I’ve seen the reports about their wedding. I’m the only one who should be his bride. Stella is his sister; she can’t marry him!”
Reese shrieked hysterically into the phone.
Mona: “…”
“No, this…”
“Do you think coming back now will make you the bride?” Mona asked, lowering her voice and grim teeth.
This was the Tom family estate; she didn’t dare speak loudly, terrified someone might overhear The

Marie was already suspicious, and she had even made Holt suspicious. If Reese came now, it would be a complete catastrophe for her. The second Holt discovered Reese’s existence, it would all be over for her. Plus, Holt was already investigating her.
Not only could she not come to Falvaria, she couldn’t even stay in Hamlin anymore.
Reese: “I don’t care! I have to be Abraham’s bride. I have to be his wife. I can’t wait anymore. If I wait any longer, I’ll die.”
“Mom, I’m in so much pain. They’re getting married. Do you know how extravagant their wedding is?”
Just the thought of Abraham and Stella’s wedding made Reese tremble with rage.
Mona: “I think you’re insane. Have you forgotten why you had plastic surgery in the first place?”
“Take a good look at yourself. Your face still isn’t a perfect match for Stella’s.”
Reese: “But I…”
“Listen to me, do not come to Falvaria. If you come now you’ll get me killed. Marie and Holt are already suspicious of our relationship.”
If you come now, you’re just handing them leverage, aren’t you? Mona couldn’t bear to think about it. Reese’s sobbing stopped, her breathing quickening. “How did they get suspicious?”
Mona: “I don’t know how it started, but you can’t stay in Hamlin any longer. Get ready to go to Yalvaria and hide out.”
Mona was truly panicking now. Marie had repeatedly brought up the trips to Hamlin, as if on purpose. She must have found something out.
Reese: “Is it that serious?”
Hearing Mona’s tone, Reese finally realized the severity of the situation.
Mona: “Just get to Yalvaria immediately. We’ll talk about the rest later.”
“Oh, fine. Then give me money.”
