Chapter 107
Conrad POV
I stared at the financial records spread across the table while anger settled deeper into my chest with every line I read.
The signatures attached to Bethany’s earliest operations belonged to Elder Marcus Valen, one of the oldest council figures still holding influence across multiple Alpha territories.
For years, the man had stood inside council chambers pretending neutrality.
For years, he had quietly funded destabilization efforts against the Supreme Alpha line.
Amorah remained beside me reviewing the records with sharp focus while several intelligence wolves/moved quickly around the strategy room uploading files to secured Alpha channels.
The atmosphere inside the room felt different tonight because for the first time in months, we finally had proof strong enough to damage our enemies directly.
“This reaches farther than Holmes,” Darius muttered from across the room.
I nodded once. “Holmes was useful to them because he looked legitimate publicly.”
Amorah looked up from the tablet in her hands. “Bethany was never only attacking you personally. She was attacking the structure surrounding you.”
The realization made everything clearer now. Bethany had spent years weakening trust in Supreme Alpha authority long before she ever entered our lives directly.
“She wanted the system to destroy itself publicly,” I said quietly.
“And Valen helped her do it,” Amorah replied.
I looked toward her slowly. Even under pressure, she stayed frighteningly focused now.
Months ago, the council would have crushed her politically without effort. Now she sat inside the center of this war dismantling senior Alpha alliances beside me like she had been born into it.
“We release the financial records carefully,” she continued. “Not all at once.”
Darius frowned slightly. “Why?”
“Because panic helps them regroup,” Amorah answered immediately. “We force the council into reacting piece by piece | instead.”
The room fell silent briefly.
One intelligence wolf looked toward me cautiously. “That approach could divide the elder factions against each other.”
“That is exactly the point,” Amorah replied.
I leaned back slightly while watching her continue organizing reports across the digital screens. Confidence looked natural
on her now.
“You already planned three moves ahead,” I observed quietly.
Her eyes lifted toward mine briefly. “I learned from you.”

Something warm settled heavily inside my chest at that answer.

The meeting continued for another hour while we prepared controlled leaks tied to Valen’s hidden accounts, Bethany’s financial routes, and several illegal transfers connected to anti–Supreme Alpha campaigns.
By the time the last intelligence wolf finally left the room, exhaustion sat heavily across my shoulders.
Amorah noticed immediately:
“You need sleep,” she murmured while gathering the remaining files together.
“I need this handled first.”
“You also need to stop pretending exhaustion makes you stronger.”
I exhaled quietly before rubbing a hand across my face. “You sound very familiar with my habits.”
“That is because I live with you now.”
The words hit me harder than they should have.
Amorah moved closer afterward and rested both hands against my chest lightly. I wrapped an arm around her waist automatically before lowering my forehead against hers for a brief second.
“We are hurting them now,” she whispered.
“Yes.”
“And Bethany knows it.”
A slow smile pulled briefly at the corner of my mouth. “Good.”
Her hand slipped lower against my stomach before she looked up at me again. “You are smiling in a terrifying way.”
“She spent too long believing nobody could corner her.”
Amorah’s expression sharpened slightly. “Not anymore.”
Later that night, we finally returned to our private quarters exhausted enough that neither of us bothered pretending we would stay awake longer.
Kyra had already fallen asleep curled against one side of the couch with a book resting across her chest while Zane sat nearby pretending he was not waiting for us.
“You are both late,” he muttered immediately.
“You are both still awake,” Amorah replied.
Zane crossed his arms. “Kyra wanted to wait.”
Kyra opened one eye sleepily without moving. “You wanted to wait too.”
Zane looked offended instantly. “Traitor.”
A quiet laugh escaped Amorah before she walked over and brushed Kyra’s hair gently away from her face. Watching her with the twins still affected me more than I liked admitting aloud.
Family.

The thought came naturally now.
Zane stood after a second before looking awkwardly toward me. “Training starts earlier tomorrow.”
“It does,” I confirmed.
He hesitated briefly. “Can we still do combat review together before breakfast?”
The question caught me off guard slightly.
“Of course,” I answered.
His expression relaxed immediately afterward even though he tried hiding it. “Good.”

After the twins finally disappeared toward their rooms, Amorah and I remained alone inside the quiet quarters.
She changed into one of my loose shirts before climbing into bed beside me while reviewing final council updates through her tablet.
“You are still working,” I muttered.
“So are you.”
I reached over and pulled the tablet gently from her hands before setting it aside on the table. She narrowed her eyes at me immediately.
“That was rude.”
“You needed rest.”
“You sound controlling.”
“You sound tired.”
She stared at me for another second before finally laughing softly under her breath. The sound relaxed something inside me instantly.
I pulled her closer until she rested fully against my chest beneath the blankets. My hand slid naturally against her stomach again while silence settled around us comfortably.
“You do that constantly now,” she murmured sleepily.
“Do what?”
“Touch the baby.”
I looked down at her quietly. “I know.”
Her fingers brushed slowly against my arm. “You are happy.”
The honesty of the statement caught me off guard because I had spent so many years functioning through pressure that happiness barely felt familiar anymore.
“I am terrified most days,” I admitted quietly.
