Chapter 108
Amorah POV
The moment Bethany’s official request reached the territory, I understood exactly what she was trying to do.
She did not care about defending herself anymore because this had never been about innocence for her.
She wanted a stage.
She wanted the entire Alpha world watching while she tore at Conrad’s authority, my pregnancy, and everything we had built together. The hearing was no longer only political. Bethany wanted humiliation.
I sat inside Conrad’s private office reviewing old council testimonies while rain tapped softly against the tall windows behind
Digital files covered the large screen across the wall, each one connected to former succession hearings, bloodline disputes, or public Alpha scandals Bethany had referenced over the years.
“She studies weakness before she moves,” I murmured.
Conrad leaned against the edge of the desk with his arms crossed loosely. “You already know how she thinks.”
“That is exactly why she is dangerous.”
I scrolled through another testimony transcript slowly before stopping at a highlighted section tied to an older Luna hearing. Bethany repeated patterns constantly.
Public pressure.
Emotional destabilization.
Turning powerful women into symbols instead of people.
“She wants me angry,” I said quietly. “If I lose control publicly, she wins.”
Conrad’s gaze stayed fixed on me carefully. “Then we do not give her that.”
I finally looked up at him fully. “No. I do not give her that.”
That change settled heavily between us.
“You have been reading council records for four hours,” Conrad said after a moment.
“I am not finished.”
“You are exhausted.”
“So are you.”
A quiet breath escaped him before he walked closer and slid a fresh cup of coffee beside my tablet. The movement felt automatic now.
Natural.
“Take a break.” he murmured.
I wrapped both hands around the warm cup before leaning back slightly in the chair. “Bethany will try attacking my history
A
first.”
“She will fail.”
“She will try anyway.”
Conrad crouched beside my chair afterward until we were eye level. His hand rested lightly against my stomach for a brief second before his thumb brushed slowly against the fabric of my shirt.
“You are not standing in that hearing alone,” he said quietly.
Something tightened painfully inside my chest at the certainty in his voice. Conrad never made promises/carelessly.
“I know,” I answered softly.
Later that evening, I found Kyra curled beneath several blankets inside the sitting room while a movie played quietly across the television screen.
She looked up immediately when I entered, but the smile she tried giving me barely reached her eyes.
“You should be asleep,” I told her gently.
“I tried.”
I crossed the room before sitting beside her carefully. “Nightmares again?”
Kyra nodded slowly. “People keep yelling in the dreams.”
My chest tightened instantly.
She heard too much.
Even when wolves whispered carefully around the territory, tension still reached the twins eventually. Children always noticed more than adults believed.
I brushed her hair back gently. “Nobody is going to hurt you.”
Kyra stayed quiet for several seconds before speaking again. “Are people angry because of the baby?”
The question hit harder than I expected.
“Some people are angry because they want power,” I replied carefully. “That has nothing to do with you.”
“Or you?”
I forced a small smile. “Especially not me.”
Kyra shifted closer slowly until her head rested against my shoulder. “I do not like when everyone acts strange.”
Neither did I.
Downstairs voices suddenly rose sharply from the training hall direction. Kyra startled immediately, and I stood without hesitation before heading toward the sound.
I found Zane near the combat mats glaring furiously at one of the younger warriors while Conrad stood nearby watching the scene carefully.
“I said I am not training today,” Zane snapped.

The warrior looked uncomfortable. “I was only trying to help.”
“I did not ask for help.”
Conrad finally stepped forward calmly. “Enough.”
255 voucha
Zane’s jaw tightened immediately. “Everyone keeps talking around us like we are too stupid to notice something is wrong.”
Silence settled heavily around the room.
The younger wolves exchanged uncomfortable glances before Conrad dismissed them with one sharp look. The room emptied quickly afterward until only the three of us remained.
Zane looked between us angrily. “Why does everyone keep acting weird?”
I exchanged a brief look with Conrad before moving closer carefully. “There are problems happening between some Alpha territories right now.”
“That is not an answer.”
“No,” I admitted quietly. “It is not.”
Zane crossed his arms tightly. “Then tell me the truth.”
Conrad stepped beside me slowly. “Some people are trying to pressure this territory politically.”
“And?”
“And that pressure affects everyone connected to us.”
Zane’s anger flickered briefly into something more uncertain. “Including us?”
“Yes,” Conrad answered honestly.
The room stayed silent afterward.
I watched Zane struggle with the answer before his shoulders finally dropped slightly. “I hate this.”
“I know.” I murmured.
To my surprise, Conrad reached out and rested a firm hand against the back of Zane’s neck briefly. “You are allowed to be angry.”
The words softened something inside the boy instantly.
That moment stayed with me long after dinner later that night.
The four of us sat together inside Conrad’s private dining room pretending things were normal while Kyra argued with Zane about vegetables and Conrad quietly corrected reports between bites of food.
For a little while, the tension outside the territory walls disappeared.
It felt dangerously close to peace.
“You are distracted again,” Conrad murmured later while we cleaned up together after the twins went upstairs.
I glanced toward him. “I am thinking.”
“That usually means trouble.”

I almost smiled. “Bethany thinks she understands how to corner me.”
“And?”
“She still thinks I am reacting emotionally.”
Conrad watched me carefully across the kitchen counter. “You are planning something
“Yes.”
“Should I be concerned?”
“Probably.”
