Chapter 113: The Elder Who Buried Her

Conrad POV

The room stayed silent after the archive finished loading across the council screen. I stared at the elder’s name attached to the disappearance records while tension rolled through every wolf standing inside the strategy chamber.

Amorah stepped closer to the table beside me and folded her arms tightly.

They erased her completely,” she said quietly.

I looked at the file again while anger settled heavily inside my chest. The biological mother connected to the twins had not disappeared accidentally.

Someone inside the council had buried her existence deliberately.

One elder could not have done this alone,I muttered.

Amorah nodded once.

“No,” she replied. “But somebody started it.”

I immediately ordered every intelligence wolf inside the territory to lock down old succession archives before additional records vanished. If the council realized we knew the truth already, they would start cleaning evidence fast.

Darius moved toward the door immediately.

I’ll secure the northern archive channels,he said.

Do it now,I ordered.

Amorah remained beside me after everyone else left the room. She stayed quiet for several seconds while studying the archive image still glowing across the screen.

This woman challenged succession politics, she said finally. “That’s why they removed her.

I turned toward her slowly.

You think the council feared her bloodline?

I think they feared what she represented,” she answered.

I watched her carefully while she spoke. Months ago, Amorah would have hesitated before stepping into political discussions like this.

Now she sounded calmer than most council wolves.

We need the missing records before the hearing,” she continued. If they destroy them first, we lose the only proof connecting the elder directly.

I nodded once.

We’ll recover them,” I replied.

Her eyes shifted toward me then softened slightly.

You haven’t slept properly in days.

I reached for her hand without thinking. My thumb brushed lightly against her knuckles while exhaustion

pulled heavily through my body.

Neither have you,I answered.

She gave me a small look that felt more familiar than tense now.

That’s different.”

It isn’t.

She exhaled quietly before leaning against the side of the table beside me. I rested my hand carefully against

her stomach, and her expression softened immediately.

Later that night, Amorah sat beside me inside my private office while reports covered almost every surface around us. The twins had finally gone to sleep after arguing with the guards about bedtime again.

Zane had become impossible to control whenever discussions about the council happened nearby.

Kyra noticed everything even when she stayed quiet.

Amorah scanned another intelligence report while I reviewed old succession records. The silence between us felt calm instead of uncomfortable.

Finally, she lowered the document in her hand.

The elder visited Grayford Territory three times before the biological mother disappeared, she said.

I looked up immediately.

Confirmed?

She nodded.

The records were hidden under trade routes.

I leaned back slowly in my chair while piecing the information together. Grayford Territory had old ties to bloodline succession disputes decades ago.

That connection could not be accidental. Amorah rubbed lightly at her eyes before setting another file aside. They protected powerful bloodlines publicly, she murmured. “But privately they erased the ones they couldn’t control.”

I watched her carefully across the desk.

You’re thinking about yourself.”

Her gaze lifted toward me slowly.

I’m thinking about every woman they turned into political property,” she admitted.

I stood from my chair and walked around the desk quietly. The moment I reached her, she leaned back slightly

while I rested both hands against her shoulders.

You are not trapped here, I told her firmly.

Her expression softened immediately.

I know,she answered.

That mattered more than she realized.

Months ago she would never have believed those words fully.

Now she did.

I leaned down and pressed my forehead lightly against hers. Her hands settled naturally against my chest while tension slowly eased from my body.

We’re ending this,” I muttered.

We are,” she replied softly.

Hours later, I woke up beside her inside my room with one arm wrapped around her waist automatically. The pregnancy had changed my instincts completely.

I checked for her before I fully woke up every morning now.

Amorah shifted slightly against me before opening her eyes slowly.

You’re staring again,” she murmured sleepily.

You were talking in your sleep.

Her brows pulled together immediately.

You definitely were.

She narrowed her eyes at me.

You’re lying.

I almost smiled.

Before I could answer, the bedroom door pushed open suddenly. Zane walked in first while Kyra followed behind him carrying a tablet almost as large as her arms.

We found something,” Zane announced immediately.

Amorah sat up carefully while I rubbed a hand across my face.

You’re both supposed to be asleep,I muttered.

We were,” Kyra answered quickly.

Then we weren’t.”

Zane climbed onto the edge of the bed while holding up the tablet.
