I stared at Holmes across the private lounge while Bethany’s last message still burned inside my head. The security cameras hidden around the building hummed quietly above us while rain hit the dark city windows behind him.

“You said Bethany hid something connected to my former pack,” I said.” “Start talking.”

Holmes leaned back slowly, but I noticed tension in his jaw immediately. For once, he did not look confident sitting across from me.

“You think the cheating scandal was where everything started,” Holmes said. “It wasn’t.”

I folded my arms carefully over my stomach while keeping my expression cold. I refused to let him see even a trace of emotion now.

“Then explain it properly.” I replied.

Holmes exhaled heavily before rubbing his face. The expensive black suit he wore suddenly looked less impressive and more desperate under the dim lights.

“Bethany was already involved with wolves inside your former pack long before we became public,” he admitted. “She started influencing leadership decisions quietly.”

My stomach tightened painfully. I kept my breathing steady while staring directly at him.

“What decisions?” I asked.

“She targeted wolves close to you first,” Holmes answered. “Pack officials, patrol leaders, even your former Luna assistants.”

A cold feeling spread through my chest slowly. Old memories started rearranging themselves inside my head in ways I hated immediately.

“The rumors,” I said quietly.

Holmes nodded once. His eyes dropped away from mine for a second.

“She pushed stories that you were emotionally unstable,” he admitted. “That you were difficult to work with and jealous of stronger wolves.”

I almost laughed at the stupidity of it now. Back then, I had spent months blaming myself for every strange interaction and every sudden cold shoulder inside the pack.

“She isolated me before the affair became public,” I realized.

“Yes,” Holmes admitted quietly.

Anger hit me hard enough that my wolf stirred immediately under my skin. I pressed my fingers against the table slowly until the feeling settled again.

“And you let her do it,” I said.

Holmes looked uncomfortable for the first time since I walked into the building. That reaction alone disgusted me more than his confession.

“She enjoyed it.” I said quietly.

Holmes looked away again. That silence answered me faster than words could..

“She liked taking control of situations,” he finally admitted. “And she liked winning.”

I leaned back slowly in my chair. For the first time in years, I finally understood something clearly.

Bethany never won because she was better than me. She cheated the entire system from the beginning.

“You’re pathetic.” I told Holmes calmly.

His head snapped toward me immediately. The insult clearly hit harder than yelling would have.

“Amorah-

“No.” I interrupted. “You let someone destroy my entire life because it made climbing easier for you.”

Holmes clenched his jaw tightly. I could see frustration building behind his

eyes now.

“You think Conrad wouldn’t choose power too?” he asked bitterly.

The question barely affected me anymore. That realization settled inside me instantly.

“Conrad never needed to destroy me to stand beside me,” I replied.

Silence filled the room after that. Holmes looked like he wanted to argue, but even he knew the difference now.

I stood carefully from the chair. My lower back ached from sitting too long, and the baby shifted heavily again.

“Amorah,” Holmes said quietly.

I paused near the door without looking back at him. The distance between us suddenly felt larger than the entire city outside.

“You lost me long before Bethany,” I said calmly. “You just didn’t realize it until someone else treated me better.”

Then I walked out.

By the time I returned home, I felt so exhausted. The private elevator opened directly into Conrad’s quarters, and I found him waiting near the living room immediately.

His eyes scanned my face the second he saw me. The tension around his shoulders loosened slightly afterward.

He crossed the room without another word and pulled me carefully against him. The warmth of his body hit me instantly, and some of the pressure inside my chest finally loosened.

I buried my face against his shirt slowly. His hand slid protectively over my stomach while holding me closer.

“What happened?” Conrad asked softly.

I stayed quiet for several seconds before answering hinonestly. My throat suddenly felt tight in a way I hated.

“They planned everything long before the cheating scandal,” I admitted. “Bethany spent months turning wolves against me inside my former pack.”

Conrad’s arms tightened immediately around me. His wolf stirred low under his skin at my words.

“She isolated me slowly,” I continued quietly. “And Holmes allowed it because it helped him politically.”

Conrad pulled back enough to look at me directly. Anger flashed briefly across his face before softening again.

“You survived it anyway” he said firmly.

I laughed weakly under my breath. The sound came out more tired than amused.

“It feels humiliating,” I admitted. “Realizing how long I was being manipulated without seeing it.”

Conrad touched my face carefully. His thumb brushed slowly across my cheek while his expression stayed steady.

“None of that changes the woman you became,” he said quietly.

Something inside me loosened painfully at those words. I leaned forward before thinking and kissed him softly.

Conrad kissed me back immediately. His hand stayed protectively against my stomach the entire time.

Later that night, we stayed curled together inside bed while rain continued outside the massive glass windows overlooking the city lights. Conrad held me against his chest while his fingers moved slowly through my hair.

The baby shifted harder suddenly. I sucked in a surprised breath immediately.

Conrad looked down quickly. “What happened?”

I grabbed his wrist and moved his hand lower against my stomach. Another strong movement hit seconds later.
