Chapter 129
Conrad POV

I stared at the modified recording file while anger settled heavily inside my chest. Someone inside the council had secretly accessed Holmes evidence before the hearing.
That alone was dangerous.
What disturbed me more was realizing Holmes had planned this for years. The recordings made one thing painfully clear.
He never loved Amorah properly.
He studied her weaknesses. He used her trust carefully and slowly until she started questioning her own worth instead of questioning him.
The thought made me sick.
Amorah sat quietly beside me on the office couch while another report loaded onto the screen. Exhaustion showed more clearly on her lately because of the pregnancy, but she still forced herself through every update.
“You need rest,” I said firmly.
She leaned back tiredly. “You’ve said that six times tonight.”
“I’ll say it seven.”
That finally pulled a small smile from her.
I stood from the desk and crossed toward her before holdin

hand. “Come on.”
Her eyebrows lifted slightly. “Where are we going?”
“You’re taking a break before I physically carry you there myself.”
“That sounds threatening.”
“It is.”
She laughed softly under her breath before taking my hand anyway.
The tension around the hearing had infected the entire territory over the last few days. Guards watched every corridor more carefully now.
Council messages arrived hourly.
Holmes kept trying to push emotionally against Amorah from a distance, but every failed attempt only made me more certain he never deserved her in the first place.
I led her upstairs toward the private bath inside our room. Steam slowly filled the space while Amorah rested against the edge of the tub with her eyes closed.
Neither of us spoke for several minutes. The silence felt peaceful instead of awkward. Eventually, she opened one eye slightly. “You’re staring.”
“I’m thinking”

I moved closer before brushing damp hair away from her face carefully. “I’m thinking Holmes was too stupid to understand
what he had.”
Something emotional shifted briefly across her expression after that.
“You don’t have to keep fixing old damage for me,” she said quietly,
“I know.”
“Then why do you?”
I kissed her forehead slowly. “Because I love you.”
The answer came naturally now.
Amorah looked at me silently for several seconds before relaxing fully against me again. Moments like this made everything outside the room feel far away for a little while.
Afterward, we stayed wrapped together beneath the blankets while rain hit softly against the windows. Amorah rested against my chest while I reviewed council reports one–handed from the tablet nearby.
Halfway through reading, I noticed her shifting uncomfortably.
“What hurts?”
“My feet.” she muttered tiredly.
I immediately set the tablet aside before pulling her legs gently across my lap. She gave me an unimpressed look instantly.
“You’re Supreme Alpha”
*And:”
“You shouldn’t be rubbing my feet.”
I started anyway.
Her entire body relaxed almost immediately afterward.
“That expression says I was right,” I said.
She narrowed her eyes slightly. “Don’t get arrogant”
I smirked faintly before continuing.
“What names are you thinking about now?” I asked quietly.
“For the baby?”
I nodded once.
Amorah rested her head back against the pillows thoughtfully. “I still like Lyra if it’s a girl.”
“I noticed.”

And you still like Cassian.”
“It’s a strong name.”
“It’s an annoyingly Alpha nane,”
“That sounds like approval.”

She snorted softly before shifting closer against me again. Several minutes later, her breathing slowed completely.
I looked down and realized she had fallen asleep against my chest mid–conversation.
Something about that affected me more than it should have.
Amorah trusted me enough to rest now. Months ago, she slept lightly even inside this room like she expected stability to disappear eventually.
Now she reached for me automatically in her sleep.
The next morning, Kyra sprinted through the hallway carrying paint samples while Zane followed behind her looking irritated already.

“It’s called the baby room,” Kyra argued loudly.
“It’s called a nursery.”
“Baby room sounds better.”
“It sounds stupid.”
Kyra gasped dramatically. “You’re rude.”
I looked up from the dining table as they entered.
Amorah followed slower behind them while holding her lower back carefully. I immediately stood and pulled her chair out before she could protest.
“You keep doing that,” she muttered.
“You keep being pregnant.”
Kyra dropped the paint samples onto the table excitedly. “We picked colors for the baby room.”
“Nursery, Zane corrected immediately.
Amorah smiled despite obvious exhaustion. “Let me guess. You argued the entire time?”
“He started it,” Kyra accused.
“I corrected you.”
The normalcy of the argument relaxed the room instantly.
Then one young guard entered through the dining hall entrance before stopping abruptly after noticing us present. His expression shifted nervously.

My apologies, Supreme Alpha.”

The guard hesitated awkwardly “The council representatives requested updates regarding the contracted Luna-”
“She has a name,” Zane snapped sharply.
The room fell silent instantly.
The guard looked horrified immediately afterward.
“I meant no disrespect.”
Zane pushed back his chair angrily. “Then stop talking about her like she’s temporary.”
Amorah stood before the tension could escalate further.
“Zane.”
His expression remained tight.
I watched him carefully for several seconds before dismissing the guard quietly. The moment we were alone again, Zane looked frustrated with himself.
“They keep acting like she doesn’t belong here.”
Amorah walked toward him slowly before touching his shoulder gently. “That stops bothering me less every day.”
“But it bothers me.”
Her expression softened immediately after that.
Later that afternoon, Amorah and I continued tracing the edited recording privately through intelligence reports. The access trail had been hidden carefully, but eventually one name surfaced repeatedly.
Council Wolf Darius Vane. I recognized him immediately.
“He worked under your former pack elder years ago,” I said quietly.
Amorah looked up sharply from the reports. The realization settled between us immediately.
Her former pack corruption and the council manipulation had been connected far longer than we originally realized.
Before either of us could speak again, one of my private intelligence wolves entered the office urgently.
“Supreme Alpha.”
His tone alone made my chest tighten.
“What happened?”
The wolf hesitated briefly before answering.
“A private source confirmed Holmes plans to ambush Luna Amorah emotionally during the hearing.”

Amorali’s expression hardened immediately.
“How?”
The wolf lowered his voice carefully.
“He intends to use information/connected to her parents publicly.”
