The Rise Of The Betrayed Luna (Amorah and Holmes) novel Chapter 135

Chapter 135

Conrad POV

I kept staring at the report spread across my desk while anger built slowly inside my chest. The deeper we dug into Amorah’s former pack records, the clearer it became that her entire life had been controlled by wolves who only saw her value when it

benefited them.

The office door opened quietly behind me, and Amorah stepped inside holding one of Kyra’s stuffed wolves against her chest absentmindedly. Her scent reached me immediately, warm and familiar enough to calm my wolf despite the tension filling the room.

You’ve been hiding in here for two hours,” she said softly. Zane thinks you’re avoiding his combat questions again.

He interrogates worse than council investigators.

That made her laugh quietly before she walked closer to my desk. The sound pulled my attention away from the files instantly because lately even her laughter felt necessary to me.

Her pregnancy exhaustion showed more now than it had weeks ago. She moved slower after stressful days, and her wolf reacted more protectively whenever too many meetings dragged late into the evening.

I reached for her hand and pulled her gently between my knees. She settled there naturally now, like her body already understood mine without hesitation anymore.

You look angry,she murmured.

I am angry.

My hands rested against her hips while I stared up at her face. Every new discovery about her past made me feel more disturbed by how many wolves failed her long before Holmes/destroyed her publicly.

They erased records connected to your mother personally I admitted quietly. Not random files. Specific ones.

Her expression tightened slightly.

That means she knew something important.

It means they were hiding something important,I corrected.

Silence settled briefly between us while rain tapped softly against the office windows. Then her fuges brushed through my hair carefully, and my wolf relaxed immediately beneath the touch.

I’m tired of everybody hiding things from me,she whispered.

I know.

I pulled her fully onto my lap then pressed my face against her stomach gently. The baby shifted faintly beneath my hand, and my chest tightened with something protective and overwhelming at the same time.

Amorah rested her forehead against mine quietly.

I need to tell you something,” I said eventually.

Her brows knitted together slightly. That sounds serious.

I kissed the side of her stomach through her shirt absentmindedly before looking back up at her face again. My wolf saver unusually calm around her lately, almost possessive in a quieter way now.

Nobody recommended you to me.I told her honestly. Not the council. Not my advisors. Nobody

She blinked slowly.

What?

I chose you myself.

Confusion crossed her face immediately, followed by disbelief. I could practically smell the uncertainty rising through ber

wolf.

I thought-

I know what you thought.”

I leaned back slightly and kept one hand against her stomach while speaking carefully. This conversation mattered more than she probably realized.

After years of refusing political mating offers, I started privately reviewing bloodline compatibility records myself.I admitted. Most wolves felt calculated or ambitious before I even met them.

And me?

You stood out immediately.

Her breathing slowed slightly.

How?

I stared at her for a long moment before answering honestly. Your file barely focused on politics. Most of it described loyalty, emotional stability, and how strongly your wolf bonded during territory crises.

Her eyes softened slightly at that.

But I was already falling apart back then.”

Maybe publicly,” I said quietly. But something about you still felt real.

Emotion flickered across her face fast enough that my chest tightened painfully. She looked away briefly like she cho nos fully know how to process hearing that.

I thought I was chosen because I was convenient, she admitted.

No.

I slid my fingers through hers slowly, I searched for you personally long before I met you facetoface

The room stayed quiet for several seconds after that. Then she leaned down suddenly and kissed me hard enough my breath completely.

I held her tighter while my wolf surged possessively beneath my skin. The kiss turned slower afterward, wofter and

emotiotul in a way that made my chest ache.

I was terrified of you at first, she whispered against my mouth.

That made me laugh quietly. You hid it badly.”

You were a Supreme Alpha with commitment issues and anger problems.

I still have anger problems.

Yes, but now they’re mostly directed at people hurting me.

I kissed her again before helping her stand carefully from my lap. Her body pressed naturally against mine now even during quiet moments, and I could not remember when that started feeling normal.

Come shower with me,” I murmured.

Her cheeks warmed slightly despite everything we had already shared together. I still loved seeing that reaction from her.

Later, steam filled the bathroom while warm water ran down both of us quietly. Amorah leaned back against my chest while I washed shampoo carefully through her hair.

You’re staring again,she muttered softly.

I’m allowed.

Her stomach had rounded more noticeably now, and faint stretch marks had started appearing along her hips. She became more selfconscious about them recently even though I honestly could not stop touching her.

I brushed my mouth gently against one mark near her stomach. Her breathing caught immediately.
