Chapter 139

Conrad POV

The witness’s words stayed trapped inside my head long after we left the safehouse. kept glancing toward Amorah in the passenger seat while she stared silently through the tinted SUV window with one hand restifig over her stomach.

She looked calm on the surface, but her wolf scent kept shifting unevenly beside me. Every few minutes, the baby reacted strongly enough for her breathing to hitch softly.

You’re overthinking again.I said quietly.

Amorah exhaled slowly without looking at me. I feel like my entire life keeps changing every few days.”

I reached across the center console and linked my fingers with hers immediately. Her shoulders loosened a little the second our hands touched.

You don’t have to process everything tonight,” I told her.

She finally looked at me then. I’m trying not to panic about what this means.”

I squeezed her hand gently before lifting it toward my mouth. Then let me distract you for one night.

Her expression softened slightly. How exactly are you planning to do that?

Shopping,I answered.

Amorah blinked at me like I had lost my mind completely. Conrad, I am emotionally exhausted and six months pregnant.”

Exactly,” I replied calmly. Which means you deserve expensive distractions.

She laughed quietly for the first time since leaving the witness behind. The sound immediately relaxed something inside my chest.

By the time we arrived at the private shopping district downtown, Kyra and Zane were already waiting outside with two guards. Kyra bounced excitedly the second she spotted us climbing out of the SUV.

You actually came,” she gasped.

Zane shoved his hands into his hoodie pockets. She threatened to cry if we stayed home.”

Kyra glared at him instantly. You wanted to come too.

I wanted food,he argued back.

Amorah smiled despite herself while I moved closer behind her instinctively. My wolf had become increasingly protective lately whenever she looked too tired or emotionally strained.

The baby reacted again the second I touched her waist lightly. Amorah pressed a hand against her stomach with a small surprised breath.

She’s moving again?I asked immediately.

Kyra’s eyes widened excitedly. The baby likes shopping already.

Zane snorted softly. Or the baby hates stress like the rest of us.

Her expression seened instantly after that. For a few seconds, the tension around her disappeared completely

Later, while Kyra argued passionately with a cashier about glittercovered baby socks, Amorah suddenly pressed a hand against her lower back with a quiet wince. I moved toward her immediately.

What hurts?

Nothing serious, she murmured. I’m just tired

My wolf reacted sharply anyway. I guided her carefully toward a private lounge area before kneeling beside her chair.

You pushed yourself too hard today,I muttered.

Amorah brushed her fingers through my hair gently. You’re hovering again.”

You’re carrying my child.”

Her eyes softened immediately at the possessive edge in my voice. The baby shifted again beneath her hand.

Kyra suddenly appeared beside us holding three pairs of matching socks. The baby kicked because she likes the wolf pajamas.”

Zane followed behind her carrying shopping bags reluctantly. You are making things weird again.

Kyra ignored him completely before looking back at Amorah. Can the baby hear us already?

Probably,Amorah answered softly.

Kyra gasped happily. Then the baby already knows I’m the favorite sibling.

The baby isn’t even born yet,” Zane deadpanned.

And still has better taste than you.

Amorah started laughing so hard she nearly cried again. I wrapped an arm around her waist carefully while her wolf scent finally relaxed properly for the first time all night.

Much later, after the twins fell asleep during the drive home, I carried Amorah upstairs myself because exhaustion had fully taken over her body. She rested sleepily against my chest while I walked through the quiet hallway.

You didn’t have to carry me,” she murmured weakly.

I wanted to.
