Chapter 140
Amorah POV
I woke slowly the next morning with Conrad’s arm wrapped tightly around my waist and his hand resting over my stomach protectively.
His scent surrounded me so completely that my wolf relaxed before I even opened my eyes fully.
For a few seconds, everything felt quiet and safe. Then the memory of everything happening lately settled back into my chest again.
Conrad noticed immediately because his fingers started rubbing slow circles against may stomach before I even spoke. “You’re thinking too hard already.”
“I can’t help it,” I admitted softly.
He kissed the back of my shoulder gently. “Then let me carry some of it.”
I turned carefully in his arms until I could look at him properly. His eyes looked tired like he barely slept at all.
“You stayed awake again,” I murmured.
“You kept having nightmares.”
My chest tightened slightly at that. “Did I wake you up?”
“You cried in your sleep,” he said quietly. “I wasn’t going back to sleep after that.”
The baby moved suddenly between us, and I let out a surprised breath. Conrad’s entire expression softened instantly while his palm spread more carefully over my stomach.
“She’s active this morning,” he said.
“She inherited your dramatic timing.”
“That sounds like a personal attack.”
I laughed weakly, and he immediately leaned down to kiss me slowly. The kiss stayed soft and sleepy until someone slammed loudly against the bedroom door.
“Amorah,” Kyra shouted from outside. “I need help immediately.”
Conrad groaned against my mouth. “I’m pretending not to hear that.”
“You’re a terrible father.”
“I’m a tired father.”
୮
The door burst open before either of us could stop her. Kyra marched inside carrying three hairbrushes and looked deeply offended by something.
“Zane said my braid looks uneven,” she announced.
Behind her, Zane stood in the hallway looking exhausted already. “Because it does.”

yra gasped dramatically. “Traitor.”
Conrad buried his face briefly against my shoulder while I tried not to laugh. The twins had somehow learned how to create chaos before breakfast every single day.
A few minutes later, Kyra sat cross–legged between my knees while I braided her hair carefully in front of the bedroom
mirror.
Conrad leaned against the bathroom doorway watching us quietly while Zane pretended not to pay attention from the couch.
“You braid too tight,” Kyra complained.
“You say that every morning,” I reminded her.
“Because every morning you ignore me.”
Zane snorted softly. “You cry if the braid gets loose.”
“That is not true.”
“It literally happened yesterday.”
Kyra turned around to glare at him, ruining half the braid instantly. I sighed while Conrad laughed under his breath behind
“You’re both exhausting,” I muttered.
“But you love us,” Kyra replied immediately.
The words hit me unexpectedly hard.
Before I could answer, Zane spoke quietly from the couch. “Obviously she does.”
Something warm twisted painfully inside my chest after that. Lately, moments like this kept happening naturally, like the twins had slowly stopped treating me like someone temporary.
After breakfast, Conrad left briefly for meetings while I stayed in the family lounge with the twins because exhaustion kept hitting me harder lately.
r I had fallen asleep halfway through answering Kyra’s question about baby names because the next thing I remembered was waking against Conrad’s chest while he carried me upstairs.
“You carried me again,” I murmured sleepily.
“You fell asleep sitting up again,” he replied.
His voice sounded softer than usual today. Even his wolf scent felt restless around me.
I wrapped my arms lazily around his neck while he carried me through the hallway. “You’re acting strange.”
“I’m worried about you.”
“That’s not new.”
Conrad glanced down at me carefully before kissing my forehead. “Humor me anyway.”

cance we reached ska bedroom, he laid me gently across the bed before helping me sit comfortably against the pillows. My
body ached more than usual lately, especially my back and hips.
“You need more rest,” he said hmly
“You sound like an angry doctor”
“You’re impossible.”
I smiled faintly while he rubbed my stomach slowly through my shirt. The baby kicked almost immediately beneath his hand.
Conrad’s expression changed every single time that happened. His entire face softened in a way that still made my chest ache sometimes.
Downstairs, loud arguing suddenly echoed through the hallway.
“She needs musical education,” Kyra yelled.
“She needs survival skills,” Zane yelled back.
Conrad closed his eyes briefly. “I’m not dealing with this.”
Two seconds later, both twins stormed into the bedroom anyway.
Kyra climbed onto the bed immediately beside me. “Zane thinks babies don’t need songs.”
“Babies definitely need combat training first,” Zane argued.
“They can’t even walk.”
“Exactly why they need preparation.”
I started laughing so hard my stomach hurt while Conrad stared at both of them like he regretted every life decision leading to this moment.
Kyra leaned closer to my stomach seriously. “Baby, ignore Zane. I’m teaching you good things.”
Zane crossed his arms. “The baby is going to grow up weak if all you teach is singing.”
“The baby likes my singing.”
“The baby kicked because she was trying to escape.”
Kyra looked horrified while I buried my face against Conrad’s shoulder laughing again. Even Conrad finally lost composure and started laughing quietly too.
“You’re both ridiculous,” he muttered.
