Chapter 176

Amorah POV

Several days after the birth, we finally returned home to the estate with our baby. The moment we stepped through the front doors, I realized nothing had prepared us for what life with a newborn would actually be like.

The estate had been cleaned, organized, and prepared for weeks before the birth. Somehow, within an hour of arriving home, it already felt chaotic again.

Conrad carried the baby inside like he was transporting the most valuable treasure in the world. His eyes barely left the tiny bundle in his arms.

“You are staring,” I told him.

“I know,” he replied.

“You’ve been staring for three straight days.”

“I know that too.”

I shook my head as I followed him inside. The baby immediately settled against his chest and released a soft sound of

contentment.

The reaction wasn’t unusual anymore. Our child seemed unusually sensitive to scent and presence, becoming calm whenever either Conrad or I held them.

The estate healer had already mentioned that strong bloodlines often showed signs early. Even so, some of the baby’s reactions felt surprisingly advanced.

Kyra rushed forward almost immediately. Zane appeared right behind her before she could reach the baby first.

“I should hold the baby first,” Kyra declared.

“You held the baby yesterday,” Zane argued.

“You counted that?”

“I count everything.”

Conrad immediately stepped backward. “Neither of you are holding the baby yet.”

Both twins groaned dramatically. The next several hours disappeared into a blur of adjustments.

Feeding schedules, sleeping schedules, recovery schedules, and doctor recommendations quickly took over every conversation. Unfortunately, Conrad had become impossible.

The man who could command entire territories without hesitation suddenly questioned everything involving the baby. He questioned blankets, room temperatures, feeding intervals, sleeping positions, and every visitor who came within ten feet of the nursery.

The doctor eventually laughed during one of her visits. “Alpha, the baby sneezed.”

Conrad frowned. “Exactly.”

“Babies sneeze.

Chapter 176-

How often?”

The doctor looked at me helplessly. I started laughing.

Conrad looked deeply offended by both of us. My own adjustment wasn’t exactly smooth either.

Recovery was harder than I expected, and exhaustion followed me everywhere. Sometimes I sat down intending to rest for five minutes and woke up an hour later.

Other times I was so tired that I forgot what I had been doing halfway through a task. One afternoon I walked into the kitchen searching for tea.

Ten minutes later, I discovered I was holding a baby blanket and had completely forgotten why I entered the room. Lyra quietly took the blanket from me.

“You were looking for tea.”

I blinked. “I was.”

She pointed toward the counter. “You already made it.”

Sure enough, the cup was sitting right there. For a second, we both laughed.

The interaction surprised me because it felt natural. There was no tension, no awkwardness, and no attempt by Lyra to force a friendship.

She simply helped. Over the following days, I noticed the same pattern repeatedly.

She handled errands, helped organize supplies, prepared meals, and quietly supported the household without asking for attention. She never inserted herself into private family moments.

She never pushed boundaries. That didn’t mean I trusted her completely.

It only meant I was beginning to see consistent actions instead of empty promises. The twins remained focused on a completely different mission.

They had decided the baby required a formal assistance program. That program quickly turned into a competition.

“I made a schedule,” Kyra announced one morning.

“I improved the schedule,” Zane replied.

Kyra slapped a stack of papers onto the dining table. “There are color-coded shifts.”

Zane immediately placed his own stack beside hers. “There are efficiency ratings.”

Conrad stared at both documents. “The baby is four days old.”

Neither twin listened. By the end of breakfast, they had somehow created a detailed system assigning themselves responsibilities for feeding assistance, diaper supply management, toy organization, and emergency response.

“The baby can’t read this,” I pointed out.

“That’s not the point,” Kyra said.

“It absolutely is not the point,” Zane agreed.

Chapter 176-

Haugheil so hard that tears formed in my eyes. Conrad immediately looked alarmed.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

“Are you in pain?”

“No.”

“Should I call the doctor?”

I laughed even harder. That evening, after everyone finally settled down, the estate became unusually quiet.

The twins had gone to bed, the staff had finished their duties, and the baby was sleeping peacefully. For the first time all day, Conrad and I sat alone together.

The nursery lamp cast a soft glow across the room. Our child slept between us while exhaustion settled heavily over both of our shoulders.

Conrad reached over and squeezed my hand. “We survived the first week.”

“Barely.”

His smile appeared immediately. “I thought becoming parents would be difficult.”

I looked at him. “What exactly did you expect?”

“I don’t know.”

“You expected schedules.”

“I did.”

I laughed softly. “You expected organization.”

“I definitely did.”

The baby made a tiny sound. We both immediately looked down.

Neither of us missed the reaction. Conrad smiled first.

“We’re hopeless.”

“We really are.”

For several minutes we simply sat there together. The silence felt comfortable rather than empty.
