The healer’s words stayed with me long after everyone left the nursery. Even after the baby settled down again, I could not ignore the concern I had seen in his eyes.

The following morning, he returned with additional records and consulted two specialists from neighboring territories. By lunchtime, the entire family was gathered in my office waiting for his conclusion.

“The baby is healthy,” he finally said, looking directly at Amorah and me. “Unusually strong for their age, but healthy.”

I felt tension leave my shoulders for the first time since the incident. Beside me, Amorah released à breath she had clearly been holding all morning.

“So nothing is wrong?” she asked.

The healer nodded. “Nothing is wrong, but this child may develop faster than most young wolves.”

Kyra immediately looked pleased by that information. Zane tried to look unimpressed and failed completely.

“I knew it,” Kyra announced. “The baby is already smarter than everyone.”

“The baby can’t even hold its own head up yet,” Zane replied.

“That’s because you’re comparing it to yourself.”

Their argument started before breakfast ended. For the first time in days, the conversation felt normal.

Over the next week, life slowly settled into a routine. The baby slept, cried, ate, and somehow managed to control the schedule of an entire estate without saying a single word.

Amorah was recovering well, although she was still exhausted more often than she admitted. Whenever she thought nobody was watching, I caught her falling asleep in chairs, on couches, and once while reading the same page of a book for twenty

minutes.

I started carrying the baby whenever possible. It gave her opportunities to rest, even if she rarely accepted them willingly.

throat.

One afternoon, while we were eating lunch together, Lyra cleared her throat. The action immediately caught my attention because she had spent the last several weeks making herself as unobtrusive as possible.

“I wanted to ask something,” she said carefully.

Amorah looked up from her meal. “What is it?”

Lyra hesitated for a moment before continuing. “Have you ever considered sending Kyra and Zane to school?”

The table became silent almost immediately. Even the twins stopped eating.

Lyra noticed the reaction and quickly continued. “I don’t mean anything negative by it.”

Nobody interrupted her. We simply listened.

“They’ve spent years surrounded by guards, investigations, adults, and family problems,” she said. “Maybe they deserve something more normal.”

#exchanged a glance with Affiorah. The suggestion had never truly crossed my mind before.

“They have tutors,” I said.

“They do,” Lyra agreed. “But tutors aren’t the same thing as friends.”

The twins suddenly looked very interested in the conversation. Both of them were trying and failing to pretend otherwise.

Amorah folded her hands together. “You think they’re ready?”

“I think they might surprise you,” Lyra replied.

The discussion continued long after lunch ended. By evening, the subject was still being debated throughout the estate.

My biggest concern was safety. The twins had enemies simply because they were part of our family, and I hated the thought of placing them somewhere I couldn’t personally protect them.

Amorah’s concerns were different. She worried less about physical danger and more about whether they were emotionally prepared for such a major change.

That night, after the twins went to bed, we sat together in the nursery while the baby slept nearby. The conversation returned to the same subject almost immediately.

“What do you think?” Amorah asked.

I watched our child sleeping before answering. “I think I don’t like the idea.”

She smiled slightly. “Because it’s dangerous?”

“Because they’re growing up.”

Amorah laughed softly. “That’s happening whether we like it or not.”

I knew she was right. That did not mean I had to enjoy it.

The next morning, we decided to discuss the idea directly with the twins. Their reactions were exactly what I expected.

Kyra practically launched herself across the room. “Yes.”

Zane remained completely still. “I don’t care.”

Kyra immediately pointed at him. “He’s lying.”

“I am not.”

“You already packed a bag.”

Zane looked horrified. “Why would you tell them that?”

Amorah started laughing. I wasn’t far behind.

Over the following days, we researched several schools throughout neighboring territories. Modern pack education had changed significantly over the years.

Students learned traditional subjects alongside pack law, territorial history, wolf control, and modern leadership programs. The best academies balanced ordinary education with the realities of werewolf society.

Eventually, one school stood out above the others. It had an excellent reputation, strong security, and several families we trusted already sent their children there.

The academy invited us for a private tour. To my surprise, the twins spent the entire drive trying to act calm.
