Chapter 19
Chapter 19
AMORAH
I did not answer Conrad’s message immediately. I read it once, then again, letting every word settle before I locked my phone and slipped it back into my pocket. My mind was clear, but my decision was not made yet because I still needed one more thing.
The council hall was already active when I stepped back inside. The elders had taken their seats again, and several Alphas remained behind, speaking in low tones as they waited for the next session to begin. The failed rite had not ended the matter, and everyone in the room understood that.
The moment I entered, attention shifted toward me. It was not loud, but it was enough to be felt. I walked forward without hesitation and took my place where I had stood before, aware of every pair of eyes watching me.
A few seconds later, Holmes walked in with Bethany beside him. They moved together naturally, as if nothing had happened, as if the accusations and the failed rite had not changed anything. Holmes’s expression was controlled in a way that was clearly deliberate.
He stopped a few steps away from me.
“Amorah,” he said, his voice was loud enough to draw attention without sounding aggressive.
I did not respond immediately, and that gave him the space he wanted.
“I think it’s time we end this display,” he continued, turning slightly so the elders could hear him. “You’ve made your point. You’ve caused enough disruption for one night.”
I met his gaze calmly.
“You mean I’ve said things you can’t control,” I replied.
A faint shift passed through his expression, but he recovered quickly. Bethany stepped forward at that moment, her face soft
with concern.
“Amorah is still grieving,” she said gently. “The loss has affected her more than we expected.”
I let them speak. I let them build the story they had been repeating since this began.
Holmes continued, his tone measured and calm. “She’s been making accusations without evidence. Against me and against her own family.”
A few murmurs rose around the room as he spoke. He took a step closer, lowering his voice slightly as if he was trying to manage the situation.
“I’ve been patient,” he added. “More patient than most Alphas would be.”
A short laugh left my mouth before I could stop it. It was not loud, but it cut through the quiet enough to draw more
attention.
Holmes’s eyes hardened slightly. “That’s not helping your case.”
“I’m not trying to help my case.” I replied.
I stepped forward, closing the distance just enough to shift the focus back to me.
I’m trying to end it.”

Chapter 19
The room fell quieter.
Holmes watched me carefully. “You’re not in a position to make demands.”
“I’m not making a demand.” I said. “I’m giving you a choice.”
That made him pause, even if only for a second.
“Break the bond.” I said.
The words landed clearly, and the reaction in the room followed immediately. It was not loud, but it was there. Bethany’s breath HITCHED softly, though she said nothing.
Holmes stared at me.
“You don’t mean that,” he said.
“I do.” I replied.
“You’re not thinking clearly.”
“I’ve never been clearer.”
His jaw tightened, and I could see the shift in his control. “You don’t get to walk away because things became difficult.”
“I’m not walking away because things are difficult,” I said. “I’m walking away because you are a liar.”
The room reacted again, more noticeably this time. Holmes’s calm expression hardened further.
“You need to be careful,” he said quietly.
“Or what?” I asked.
He did not answer, and that silence said enough.
I stepped closer again, removing any distance left between us. “If you want me to stop, then break the bond.”
“I won’t,” he said.
“Then I will.”
His wolf reacted to that, and I felt the shift in him even without a connection. His presence sharpened.
“You can’t,” he said.
“Watch me.”
The tension between us became heavier, but Holmes forced control back into his posture as he turned slightly toward the elders again.
“You’re proving my point,” he said. “This is not rational behavior.”
Bethany stepped forward once more, placing a gentle hand on his arm. “We don’t want this to go further,” she said softly. “We just want her to rest.”
I looked at her properly this time, then shifted my attention back to Holmes.
“I’m close I said.

Chapter 19
He went still for a brief moment before hiding it.
“Close to what?” he asked.
“To proving you were unfaithful.”
This time. the room reacted immediately. The murmurs grew louder, and several Alphas turned fully toward us.
Bethany spoke quickly. “That’s not true. You’re twisting everything”
I ignored her.
“And when I prove it.” I continued, “I’ll prove something else.”
Holmes’s expression did not change, but his eyes sharpened.
“What are you talking about?”
“The twins.” I said.
The room went completely silent.
“Zane and Kyra are not who you said they are,” I continued.
Bethany’s face changed for a brief second before she forced it back into place. Holmes stepped closer, his voice low.
“Be very careful.”
“I am.” I replied.
“You’re making serious accusations again.”
“I’m making accurate ones.”
He leaned closer, lowering his voice further. “You have nothing.”
I allowed a small smile.
“Not yet.”
That was enough to create doubt in the room. The elders began exchanging looks, and the earlier confidence around Holmes started to weaken.
He stepped back slowly, his calm now colder than before.
“You’re digging yourself deeper,” he said.
