Chapter 201

Amorah POV

My arms tightened around Cassian while security moved quietly toward the man without creating panic among the remaining guests.

“He has his grandmother’s eyes.”

The sentence repeated itself inside my head as Conrad stepped forward. His expression remained calm, but I knew him well enough to see the tension beneath it.

Two security wolves approached the stranger immediately. They spoke to him politely before guiding him away from the gathering.

The man offered no resistance. He simply nodded and followed them toward one of the private meeting rooms near the estate house.

Conrad turned toward me. “Take Cassian inside.”

I shook my head. “I’m coming too.”

His jaw tightened slightly.

“Amorah.”

“I’m not staying behind.”

For several seconds, he looked ready to argue. Eventually, he gave up and nodded once.

Together, we followed security into the estate. Cassian remained completely relaxed throughout the entire situation.

That alone felt strange. The meeting room was already secured when we arrived.

Several guards stood outside while the stranger sat quietly inside. He looked older up close.

His hair was mostly gray, and his face carried the lines of age and experience. Conrad entered first.

“I want answers.”

The man nodded calmly. “I expected that.”

I sat beside Conrad while keeping Cassian against my chest. The stranger’s eyes briefly moved toward the baby before returning to Conrad.

“My name is Elias.”

Nobody responded. Elias folded his hands together.

“I worked with your father many years ago.”

Conrad’s expression didn’t change.

“My father worked with many people.”

Chapter 204.

That’s true.

Elias paused briefly.

“I also knew your grandmother

That finally caught Conrad’s attention. Very few people-ever spoke about her.

“How?”

Elias leaned back slightly. “I was a historian for several wolf territories during that time.

“Your grandmother helped preserve family records that would have otherwise disappeared.”

The answer sounded reasonable. That didn’t mean I trusted him.

“You expect us to believe you showed up here by coincidence?” I asked.

“No.”

At least he was honest. Elias looked directly at me.

“I expected suspicion.”

“Good.”

A faint smile appeared on his face. “Your reputation suggested that response.”

Conrad immediately redirected the conversation.

“Why were you watching my family?”

Elias sighed. “I wasn’t watching.”

“Then explain the academy.”

“I attended because I heard rumors.”

That answer instantly made me uncomfortable.

“What rumors?”

Elias hesitated. For the first time, he seemed uncertain,

“Rumors about a child displaying unusual wolf instincts.”

My arms tightened around Cassian again. Conrad noticed immediately.

“So you came looking for our son.”

“Not exactly.”

Elias rubbed his forehead.

“I came looking for answers.”

Chapter 201

The room became quiet. Outside, faint sounds from the celebration still drifted through the windows.

The contrast made everything feel strange. Life continued normally beyond these walls.

Inside them, suspicion lingered, Elias spent the next hour answering questions.

Most of his responses focused on old family connections rather than current events. He spoke about Conrad’s father.

He spoke about Conrad’s grandmother. He even described several family traditions that Conrad recognized immediately.

None of the information sounded invented. That made things more complicated.

Eventually, security completed a preliminary background review. Everything they found supported Elias’s identity.

Conrad remained cautious anyway. I appreciated that.

When the questioning finally ended, Elias stood slowly from his chair.

‘I didn’t come here to cause problems.”

“Then why did you come?” I asked.

His eyes moved toward Cassian again.

“Because I saw something familiar.”

Nobody spoke. Elias seemed to realize how strange that sounded.

“I know that isn’t a satisfying answer.”

“No,” Conrad agreed:

“It isn’t.”

The conversation ended shortly afterward. Security escorted Elias to temporary guest accommodations while further checks continued.

The celebration officially ended soon after. By evening, the estate felt much quieter.

Several guests remained overnight. Most had already departed.

Cassian slept through nearly everything. I envied him.

Later that night, the twins discovered that Elias knew family history. That single fact immediately captured their attention.

“Did he know Grandpa?”

Kyra asked the question before she even sat down. Conrad nodded.

“A little.”

Zane looked interested despite trying not to show it.

“What about Grandma?”

“Which one?”

Kyra rolled her eyes.

“That doesn’t narrow it down

The discussion lasted much longer than expected. The twins suddenly wanted answers about every relative they had never

met.

Some questions were reasonable. Others were not.

“Did any of them fight bears?”

“No.”

“What about mountain lions?”

“No.”

“Dragons?”

Conrad stared at Kyra.

“There are no dragons.”

She looked disappointed. The conversation finally ended when Cassian woke from his nap.

The moment he opened his eyes, he immediately reached toward the nearest object. Unfortunately, that object happened to be Zane’s sleeve.

“Hey.”

Zane laughed while gently pulling away.

“Little Fang strikes again.”
