I watched her after I gave the ultimatum. and I did not rush her to answer. Amorah did not speak immediately, but I could see the change in her focus as she weighed her options. She was thinking through outcomes, not reacting, and that confirmed what I already knew about her.
She still believed she could control the direction of this situation. She believed she could stay, gather what she needed, and, leave when it suited her. That belief was the only reason she had not agreed yet.
My wolf stirred again, stronger this time, pushing against my control in a way that had become harder to ignore. “Take per,” it said. “She is already yours.”
I exhaled slowly, forcing it back, but not completely. The instinct remained, steady and present, and I did not push it away as hard as I had before.
Amorah finally spoke, her voice calm but firm. “I need more time.”
I did not interrupt her.
“If I leave now, I lose everything I have been building,” she continued. “Holmes and Bethany will erase what is left, and I will have nothing to prove.”
Her eyes held mine, steady and direct. “You know that.”
“I know what you think,” I replied.
Her expression did not change, but I saw the tension settle in her shoulders. “Then you know I am right.”
I stepped forward, closing the distance between us again. I did not rush the movement, but I made sure she felt it.
She did not step back.
That was enough.
“You are still thinking like this is only about revenge,” I said.
Her gaze sharpened slightly. “That is what this started as.”
“It is no longer what this is,” I replied.
There was a brief pause before I continued. “What is tied to those twins is not limited to Silvercrest. What you heard before he died confirms that.”
Her attention shifted slightly at that. “Then tell me what it means.”
“No,” I said.
Her jaw tightened, but she did not look away. “You expect me to follow you without knowing what I am walking into.”
*1 expect you to understand that staying here will not give you what you want,” I replied.
“And leaving will?” she asked.
“Yes,” I said.
She studied me carefully, and I could see the question forming before she spoke it.

Chapter 32
“Are you trying to protect me,” she asked, “or control me?”
I did not hesitate. “Both.”
The answer settled between us without resistance. She did not expect me to deny it, and I did not see a reason to pretend otherwise.
Her wolf stirred under her skin, and I felt the cange in her stance. She was not backing down, but she was adjusting.
“That is not something I accept easily,” she said.
“It is not something you need to accept easily,” I replied. “It is something you agreed to.”
Her eyes narrowed slightly at that. “I agreed to a contract.”
“You agreed to me.” I corrected.
Silence followed that, brief but clear,
2014
I watched her closely as she processed that, and I saw the change in her expression. It was small, but it was there.
I stepped closer again, lowering my voice slightly. “You signed it willingly.”
“I signed it because I needed what you offered,” she replied.
“And you still do,” I said.
She exhaled slowly, but she did not deny it.
“That contract includes an heir,” I continued. “Within a fixed time.”
Her reaction was immediate this time. “Do not reduce this to that.”
“I am not reducing it,” I replied. “I am stating it clearly.”
Her
gaze
held mine, and I saw the shift in her expression again. This time it was more personal.
“Is that all I am to you?” she asked.
I did not answer immediately. I watched her instead, taking in the question for what it was.
“If that were all,” I said finally, “I would have taken a different woman.”
She did not respond right away. Her attention remained on me, but I could see the shift in her thoughts.
I turned my head slightly, my attention shifting toward the corridor before the guards even appeared.
Amorah noticed the change in me immediately. “What is it?”
“Stay where you are.” I said.
The guards stepped into view seconds later. They moved in formation, controlled and precise, and there was no hesitation in their approach.
Elite. Not standard patrol.
They stopped a short distance from us, their posture firm.
Tuna Amorah one of them said.

Chapter 32
Her expression hardened slightly. “I am listening.”
“You are to remain within the pack house until further notice,” he continued. “All independent movement is restricted.”
Silence followed that.
This was not a suggestion.
Amorah stepped forward immediately, her voice steady but sharp. “On whose authority?”
“Alpha Holmes.” the guard replied.
Her wolf reacted instantly, and I felt the shift in her stance. She was ready to push back, to challenge the order directly.
I moved before she could.
My hand lifted slightly, stopping her without touching her. “Stand down,” I said.
She did not listen immediately. I felt the resistance in her, the instinct to act.
“Amorah,” I said again, quieter this time.
I stepped forward, placing myself between her and the guards.
“You are making a mistake.” I warned.
The guards did not respond immediately, but I saw the hesitation.
It was small, but it was there.
