Chapter 33
AMORAH
The guards moved first, but they did not get far. Conrad stepped into them before they could form a proper line, and I felt the shift in the air the moment he stopped holding back. His presence pressed outward in a way that made even me pause. and I understood that he was no longer keeping himself restrained.
“Stand down.” he said.
No one moved at first, and that hesitation told me everything. These were not ordinary wolves, and yet they were unsure, caught between the Alpha who commanded them and the man standing in front of them. Conrad did not wait for them to decide.
His wolf pushed forward again, stronger this time, and the pressure became impossible to ignore. One of the guards took a step back without meaning to, and that single movement broke the formation they had tried to hold.
“I will not repeat myself,” Conrad added.
The lead guard clenched his jaw, but his voice carried less certainty now. “We have orders.”
“And I outrank them,” Conrad replied.
Silence followed that, heavy and immediate. The words settled through the corridor in a way that forced every wolf present to recognize what he had just declared.
My chest tightened slightly as I looked at him. This was not just strength or dominance. This was authority that did not need to be argued.
“You are interfering with Silvercrest authority,” the guard tried again.
Conrad did not even look at him fully. “You are standing in front of it.”
That ended it.
The guards stepped aside, not all at once, but enough to clear the path. No one challenged him again, and no one tried to stop us as he turned and walked forward.
“Stay close,” he said to me.
I followed without speaking, my mind still catching up with what had just happened. We moved through the pack house quickly, and I noticed the way the other wolves reacted when they saw him.
They lowered their gazes. Not out of confusion BUT Out of recognition.
By the time we reached the outer grounds, the air felt different. The tension inside the pack house stayed behind, but it did
not leave me.
“You did not tell me,” I said once we were alone.
He did not stop walking. “There are many things I have not told you.”
“You are above him,” I said.
“Yes,” he answered.
The direct response made my chest tighten again. “Then everything that has been happening here..”

“Has been allowed,” he finished.
I slowed slightly, forcing him to stop with me. “You could have ended this sooner.”
“I could have,” he said.
I held his gaze. “Then why didn’t you?”
He looked at me for a moment before answering. “Because you were not ready.”
That response stayed with me longer than I expected. I did not agree with it, but I could not dismiss it either.
We did not speak again as we left Silvercrest territory. The guards at the boundary did not try to stop us, and no one followed.
The journey to his pack house was quiet, and I spent most of it thinking. Everything I had been working toward was still behind me, and I felt it in a way that made my chest feel tight.
“You are thinking too much,” my wolf said.
“I am thinking enough.” I replied.
“You are not done,” she added.
“I know.”
When we finally arrived, I understood immediately that this place was different. The pack house stood larger than anything
I had seen in Silvercrest, and the wolves around it carried themselves differently.
I stepped out slowly, taking in my surroundings without hiding it. Conrad did not rush me, but I could feel his attention on me as I moved.
“This is your pack,” I said.
“Yes,” he replied.
“It does not feel like Silvercrest,” I added.
“It is not,” he said.
That was clear enough.
We entered the pack house, and the moment I crossed the threshold, I felt it. The presence of a stronger Alpha, one that shaped everything within this territory.
“Your room is prepared,” Conrad said.
“I did not agree to stay
“You are not,” he said.
in
your room,” I replied.
1 followed him down the corridor, noting the structure of the place. Wolves moved around us, but none of them spoke. and none of them looked at me for too long.
“This is not my home.” I said as we stopped in front of a door.
“It is where you are staying,” he replied.
1 crossed my arms slightly. “That does not mean I accept it.”

“You do not need to accept it tonight,” he said.
I frowned slightly at that. “What does that mean?”
“It means you can fight it if you want,” he replied. “It will not change where you are”
That irritated me more than I expected. I stepped into the room without waiting for him, taking in the space quickly.
It was larger than I needed.
Everything about it felt planned, and that made it harder to ignore what this situation really was.
“You already decided everything,” I said.
“Yes,” he replied.
I turned to face him. “And you expect me to just adjust to it?”
“I expect you to understand it,” he said.
“I understand that you brought me here without giving me a choice,” I replied.
“You had a choice,” he said. “You just did not like the outcome.”
I held his gaze, feeling the frustration settle deeper in my chest. “You do not get to decide everything for me.”
“I decide what involves me,” he said.
“And I am involved now,” I replied.
“Yes,” he said.
That answer did not help.
I turned away from him, walking further into the room as I tried to steady my thoughts. My wolf stirred again, restless but not afraid.
“He is not like Holmes,” she said.
“I know,” I replied.
“That does not mean he is easy,” she added.
“I know that too.”
I exhaled slowly, trying to release some of the tension building inside me. “I am not staying like this.”
“You are staying tonight,” he said from behind me.
I turned back to face him. “And tomorrow?”
“We will discuss tomorrow when it comes,” he replied.
“That is not an answer,” I said.
“It is the only one you are getting right now,” he replied.
I stepped closer without thinking, stopping just a short distance from him. “You do not get to keep me in the dark and expect me to follow.”

“And you do not get to challenge everything and expect me to explain,” he replied.
We stood there for a moment, the space between us smaller than before. I could feel his presence clearly now, stronger without the distractions of Silvercrest around us.
“You are used to control.” I said.
“Yes,” he replied.
“And you expect it from me,” I added.
“I expect alignment,” he said.
“That sounds the same,” I replied.
“It is not,” he said.
