Chapter 36
AMORAH
Conrad had a full schedule, and without asking, he expected me to follow him through it. I did not agree out loud, but I did not refuse either. If I was going to understand how he operated, I needed to see it for myself.
The first meeting was held in a private conference room within the pack house.
Several high–ranking wolves were already seated when we walked in. The moment Conrad stepped inside, they rose to their feet without hesitation. Their respect was not forced, and it was not questioned.
I stayed at his side, aware of the attention shifting toward me.
“She is watching,” my wolf said.
“Let them.” I replied.
Conrad took his seat at the head of the table, and I was given a place beside him without needing to be told. The meeting began immediately, with reports on territory movement, pack alliances, and security adjustments. I listened carefully, taking in how direct he was with every decision.
He did not hesitate.
He did not explain more than necessary.
He decided, and the others followed.
“You see it,” my wolf said.
“I do.” I replied.
We moved from one meeting to another without pause.
Each time, the reaction was the same. Wolves stood when he entered, listened when he spoke, and accepted his authority without challenge. No one questioned him, and no one tried to push against his decisions.
It was not just leadership, It was control.
By the time we entered the final meeting hall, I understood Conrad was not just an Alpha. He was operating above them, and they all knew it.
The hall was larger than the others, filled with Alphas and senior members from different packs.
Conversations stopped the moment we walked in.
All eyes turned toward him.
And then toward me.
I held my posture, refusing to react to the attention. My wolf stayed steady, not shrinking from the pressure. If this was his world, then I would not look out of place in it.
Conrad stepped forward, his presence filling the room without effort.
Instead, he remained standing, his gaze moving across the room once before settling.
“There will be a change moving forward,” he said.

Chapter 36
Every wolf present was listening.
Conrad did not look at me when he spoke next.
“The bond between I and Amorah will be formed on the next full moon,” he said.
For a moment, no one reacted. Some exchanged brief glances, others remained still, waiting for clarification that did not
come.
My wolf reacted instantly. “He did not tell you.”
“I know.” I said quietly.
No one questioned him. That was what stood out the most.
They accepted it, even if they did not understand it. That alone told me how much authority he held over them.
The meeting continued as if nothing unusual had been said.
But I did not hear anything after that.
The words stayed in my mind, repeating in a way I could not ignore. He had made a decision that involved me, it publicly, and I had not even known.
I remained where I was until the meeting ended.
When it did, the room cleared quickly. When the last of them was gone, it was just the two of us.
I turned to him immediately.
“What was that?” I asked.
He did not respond right away.
announced
Instead, he walked toward the center of the room, as if the conversation could wait. That alone made my chest tighten with irritation.
“Conrad,” I said, sharper this time.
He stopped and turned to face me.
“It was an announcement,” he said.
“I heard that,” I replied. “I’m asking why.”
His expression did not change.
“Because it is time,” he said.
Anger rose quickly, and this time I did not hold it back.
“You don’t get to decide that alone,” I said.
“I already did,” he replied.
The words hit hard, and I felt it fully.
I stepped closer, my gaze locked on his. “You made a public decision about me without even speaking to me first.”

“You signed the contract.” he said.
“That doesn’t give you the right to control everything.” I replied.
“It gives me the right to move forward,” he said.
My wolf pushed forward sharply. “He is taking control.”
“I can see that.” I replied.
I clenched my jaw slightly, forcing myself to stay steady.
“I am not a tool you use when it suits you,” I said.
“You are not a tool,” he replied.
“Then why does this feel exactly like that?” I asked.
He did not answer immediately. That silence made it worse.
“You made a decision about my life without my consent,” I continued. “You stood in front of all those Alphas and declared something I didn’t even know about.”
“You knew the terms,” he said.
“I knew the contract,” I replied. “Not this.”
He stepped closer then, closing the distance between us in a way that made it impossible to ignore him.
“This was always part of it,” he said.
“No.” I replied. “Not like this.”
“You are no different from Holmes,” I said.
That made him pause.
“You want control,” I continued. “You want to decide when things happen, how they happen, and I am just supposed to follow.”
His gaze hardened slightly.
“That is not the same,” he said.
“It feels the same,” I replied.
“I left Silvercrest to stop being controlled,” I said. “Not to walk into another version of it.”
