My attention stayed on Bethany.

Holmes stepped toward her, tension clear in the movement.

“This was not the agreement.”

The room stayed still around them. No one moved toward the doors again.

No one spoke because at that point, everyone understood what had changed.

No one was leaving until this ended. Conrad stepped forward then.

He didn’t raise his voice, and he didn’t push for space, but the shift in the room was immediate. The tension didn’t disappear, it adjusted.

“That was a mistake,” he said.

Bethany met his gaze, unbothered.

“Only if this fails.”

“It already has,” he replied.

She shook her head, just once.

“No. It was interrupted.”

“That interruption was enough.”

Their exchange held the room in place.

No one moved between them or interrupted.

And that gave me the opening I needed.

I moved.

Slowly, without drawing attention, without rushing. I stepped past the broken formation, closing the distance toward the twins with measured steps.

No one stopped me. Because all of them were watching Conrad.

I reached the twins within seconds.

“You’re alright,” I said quietly.

“It is securing it.”

I felt the change before I saw it. The energy in the room began to rise again.

It started low, subtle, then built steadily, drawing from the same structure that had been disrupted earlier. The broken formation responded–not fully restoring, but aligning just enough to support what she was doing.

“She’s restarting it.” I said.

“Yes.” Conrad answered from behind me.
