The healer led me into a smaller prate room near the medical wing without speaking again. My chest already felt tight before she even cloned the door behind us

She motioned for me to sit before walking toward the counter filled with medical supplies and records. I watched her carefully while trying to slow my thoughts.

“You already suspect why I called you here,” she said quietly.

The healer studied me for a moment before nodding “Your scent changed several days ago, but it became stronger this momong, Combined with the exhaustion and energy fluctuations, there is little doubt.”

Even before she finished speaking, I already knew the answer. Hearing it out loud still felt different.

“You are pregnant,” she confirmed softly.

The room became painfully quiet afterward. I stared down at my hands while the words settled heavily inside me.

This had always been part of the contract. From the very beginning. Conrad needed an heir.

At some point, though, the agreement had stopped feeling distant and political. Somewhere between the nights spent together, the strategy meetings, the twins, and the way Conrad looked at me now, I had stopped thinking about the contract like a transaction

Now the reality sat directly in front of me.

“How far along?” I asked quietly.

“Early” the healer answered. “Very early, but there is no mistake.”

I leaned back slowly against the chair. My thoughts moved in too many directions at once.

The healer’s expression softened slightly. “Would you like me to inform the Supreme Alpha:”

“No” I answered immediately before pausing. “I will tell him myself.”

She nodded once without questioning me further. “You should rest more often starting now.”

That almost made me laugh. Rest had stopped existing in my life months ago.

I left the medical wing a few minutes later with my mind still spinning. Wolves moved through the halls around me normally, completely unaware that everything had just changed.

Conrad was made the strategy room when I found him. Several reports covered the table again while two patrol wolves wanted early for instructioN.

He looked up nearly when I entered. Something in my face must have warned him something was wrong because his

“Leave us,” he ordered the wolves quietly.

The moment the room emptied, Conrad stepped toward me. “What happened?”

I opened my mouth once before closing it again. For the first time in a long time, I did not know how to start a conversation.

His eyes narrowed slightly. “Amorah.”

“The healer examined me,” I said carefully.

Conrad stayed silent, watching me closely.

“She confirmed something.” I continued.

Realization hit his face before I even finished speaking. The room suddenly felt too small.

“You are pregnant,” he said quietly.

I nodded once.

Conrad stared at me for several seconds without moving. I expected relief first.

Instead, he looked almost overwhelmed.

That reaction affected me more than excitement would have.

He slowly dragged a hand across his face before stepping closer again. “Are you alright?”

“I do not know yet,” I admitted honestly.

Conrad exhaled quietly and lowered himself into the chair beside the table. For once, he looked like a man trying to process something personal instead of a Supreme Alpha managing/another crisis.

“This changes things,” I said after a long silence.

His eyes lifted toward me immediately. “Things already changed long before this.”

The answer settled heavily inside my chest.

I moved closer slowly before stopping beside the table. “Politically, this becomes dangerous.”

“I know,” Conrad answered.

“You could lose the succession hearing before the child is even born.”

“I know.”

“And Holmes will become more aggressive once he hears.”

Conrad stood again before I could continue. “Amorah.”

The way he said my name stopped the spiral in my head immediately.

“This child is not a political tool to me,” he said quietly. “Not anymore.”

Hooker at him excefully. “Not anymore?”

His jaw tightened slightly before he answered. “At some point, this stopped being only about survival.”

Emotion pressed painfully against my chest after hearing that. Conrad was not expressive naturally, which made every honest thing he admitted feel heavier.

He reached for my hand slowly. “Tell me what you are thinking.”

I stared down briefly before answering. “I am trying to understand how something written into a contract became real enough to scare me.”

Conrad’s thumb brushed lightly across my fingers. “You are scared?”

“Yes,” I admitted softly. “Not of the child.”

Understanding crossed his face immediately.

“You are afraid of what this means,” he said quietly.

I nodded once.

Conrad moved closer until barely any space remained between us. “Then listen to me carefully.”

His free hand lifted gently against the side of my face.

“You are not facing this alone.”

The words nearly broke something inside me.

Later that afternoon, we visited the twins together at the deeper safe house. I had not planned on telling them immediately. but Kyra noticed something was different almost instantly.

“You smell happier,” she announced the moment I sat beside her.

Zane frowned immediately. “That does not even make sense.”

“It does to me,” Kyra replied stubbornly.

Conrad looked briefly toward me before sitting across from the twins. “There is something we need to tell you

both.”

Zane immediately looked suspicious. “That sounds bad.”

“It is not bad,” I answered carefully.

Kyra’s eyes widened suddenly before she looked between me and Conrad. “Wait.”

I blinked at her reaction. “What?”

“You are having a baby?” she asked excitedly.

The room went completely silent.

Zane scared at her. “How did you even guess that?”

Kyra ignored him completely while looking directly at me. “Are you?”

Kyra nedely lashed herself at me so fast that Conrad had to stop her from nearly crushing me in the process.

“You have to stop purrping cople in Conrad warned calmly

“But there is a baby” Kara argued

Zane looked uncomfortable for several seconds before finally speaking ‘Does the change things for us

The question hurt more than he probably realized

I reached for his hand immediately “No”

He looked unconvinced

“You are still staying with us,” I continued. “Nothing changes that.”

“You promise” Kyra asked quietly.

“I promise.” I answered.

Zane relaxed slightly after hearing that, though he still tried hiding it behind irritation. “Babies are loud.”

Kyra gasped dramatically. “You are loud.”
