Elara felt a wave of bashfulness under the intense scrutiny of the Wainwright cousins, but the little girl was too painfully cute to resist.

The kid was a total socialite in training.

She wiggled out of Zane's grip, practically launching herself into Elara's arms, brightly chirping, "Hi, pretty lady!"

Zane laughed, feigning outrage. "Wait a minute. Why does she get to be 'pretty lady' while I'm stuck as 'Uncle'?"

The little girl didn't miss a beat. "Because she's much prettier than you."

A wildly smug grin spread across Zane's face.

Tobias rolled his eyes at his older cousin's blatant ego trip. "Would you really be thrilled if my daughter called you 'brother'? Because that makes the family tree real weird, Zane." Tobias heavily emphasized his name.

Watching from the sidelines, Ethan took a sip of his drink and thought to himself: *It has to be genetic. He definitely inherited that psychotic romantic obsession from our great-aunt who eloped.*

Later that night, the second the doors of the hotel elevator slid shut, Zane crowded Elara into the corner, wrapping his arms around her waist.

"We should have a little girl," he murmured, his breath warm against her neck.

"Stand up straight."

Zane refused to let go, nuzzling into her shoulder. "Come on, tell me yes."

"No."

"You didn't like her?"

Elara shot him a warning glare. "You've had way too much to drink. Stop spouting nonsense."

"I am perfectly sober. And I mean every single word."

Elara swiped the keycard to their suite. The moment the lock clicked, Zane spun her around and pinned her against the door, kissing her deeply.

She pushed at his chest. "Stop it, you reek of expensive bourbon."

"Just tell me we can have a daughter," Zane practically whined, burying his face in her hair.

"Are you going to drop this?" Elara sighed, deeply exasperated. "I am still legally Mrs. Sterling. Do you hear how insane you sound?"

Zane looked down at her with the most pathetic, wounded puppy-dog eyes imaginable. "Just promise me first."

Defeated, Elara threw her hands up. "Fine! Yes. We'll have a daughter. Now go take a shower before I suffocate."

Instantly triumphant, Zane strutted toward the master bathroom. He paused at the door, glancing back over his shoulder with a wicked smirk.

"Want to come scrub my back?"

Elara's face flushed hot red. "I'll come in there and drown you. Get in the shower!"

Zane laughed, leaning against the doorframe. "I literally just asked you to wash my back. What exactly were you imagining, sweetheart?"

"You know damn well what you meant."

"I mean, I can wash yours if you prefer."

"Get out!"

Zane wasn't blackout drunk, but he was definitely riding a heavy buzz.

After his shower, he laid in bed, swinging his foot off the edge, relentlessly harassing her through the cracked bathroom door.

"Hurry up."

"I'm hurrying."
