The moment he closed the car door, he called Elara.

She was currently sitting in the project director's office.

Ethan Wainwright sat across from her. Guessing who was on the other end, he considerately offered, "Ms. Vance, go ahead and take that. Let's take a short break."

Elara answered the call. Zane didn't even say hello. "I'm coming to see you."

Elara frowned, keeping her voice low. "It's not a good time. If you don't have anything important to say, I'm hanging up."

"I'll come be your assistant."

"No need. Don't come."

Zane completely ignored her. Glancing at his watch, he said, "I'll be there in thirty minutes."

True to his word, Zane shamelessly tracked her down. And just as he promised, he acted as her assistant. In truth, Elara didn't need one at all. If she actually needed help, she would have brought her own project manager.

Right before dinner, Zane sauntered back into the Wainwright estate looking completely nonchalant, as if he had just been out for a leisurely stroll.

The birthday banquet wasn't until the following day. After dinner, the elders gathered to play cards. With all the male relatives present, Zane took advantage of the chaos and slipped out to the hotel.

When Elara opened the door and saw him, she couldn't help but ask, "Why are you here again?"

Zane pulled her into his arms. "I missed you."

Startled, Elara quickly pulled him inside. "Keep it down, someone might see."

Zane refused to let go. "Did you miss me?"

Elara lightly slapped his hands away. "Behave yourself."
