Jocelyn Yale glared at her coldly. "Get the hell out of here, right now, or I'll make you feel the back of my hand."

Her gaze dropped to Vanessa's stomach. Startled, Vanessa Quinn instinctively wrapped her arms around her belly. She looked at Julian Sterling, opening her mouth to say something else, but Jocelyn shot her another lethal glare. Vanessa scrambled away. She was genuinely terrified that if Jocelyn snapped, her unborn baby would pay the price.

Once she was gone, Julian let out a heavy breath. "Thank you."

"If you don't want the baby, handle it now," Jocelyn said bluntly. "Otherwise, it'll be too late to do anything about it."

Julian fell silent for a moment before muttering, "I know."

"You want the kid?"

He nodded.

"But you don't want to marry her," Jocelyn stated as a fact. It was glaringly obvious.

"I can't shake her off. She's forcing my hand, threatening to expose everything to the world if I don't marry her."

Jocelyn considered this. "You can't have your cake and eat it too. Wanting the child but tossing the mother aside is a bit low. The kid will resent you for it later. Besides, what difference does it make who you marry as long as she can give you a child?"

Julian said nothing.

Inwardly, Jocelyn was stunned. He and Elara had been married for years without having a child... Damn, she had just hit a raw nerve.

"Whatever, figure it out yourself. If you need me to swat away any more flies, just say the word. I can send her packing in seconds."

"Thanks again," Julian said.

"Don't mention it. We're old classmates."

Meanwhile, Elara Vance had turned Zane Whitaker down for two days straight. On the third day, Zane called her again.

"Are you still this busy, Boss?"

"Yeah, swamped. Julian's transfer cleared, so a lot of projects are finally moving again."

"What about me? Are you just abandoning me?"

"What's wrong with you?" Elara replied. "The doctor said you were fine. The tests proved you're perfectly healthy."
