The next morning, he dropped her off at work so he could pick up his own car.
He bid her a polite, entirely professional goodbye. Looking at his sharp, immaculate appearance, Elara's mind instantly flashed back to his utter depravity from the night before.
It was impossible to reconcile the powerful, untouchable Mr. Whitaker standing in front of her with the man who had been kneeling between her legs hours earlier. She quickly shooed him away before her imagination could run totally wild.
She spent the entire day completely distracted.
A woman could easily experience climax without necessarily obsessing over sex.
Aside from the occasional physical urge, Elara had always considered men to be an entirely optional part of her life.
Because of that, she had never understood why Zane was constantly hounding her for intimacy.
But after last night, it suddenly made perfect sense.
She finally understood the pure, intoxicating appeal of a man like him.
It was a sensation she had never experienced before.
An earth-shattering pleasure that literally made her feel as if she were ascending to heaven.
She didn't understand how one single night could rewire her brain so entirely.
But the terrifying truth was undeniable: she had spent the entire day thinking about him.
Right before clocking out, she couldn't stop herself from calling him.
"Mr. Whitaker, care to get dinner tonight?"
Zane's eyes lit up the moment he heard her voice. "President Vance, has the sun decided to rise in the west today?"
"I just didn't want you throwing another tantrum and picking fights with me," Elara teased.
"Well, your course correction is highly appreciated," Zane replied, a massive smile taking over his face. "I'll have a private chef prepare something and send it over to The Sovereign. Eat first, and then wait for me at home, alright?"
A sliver of disappointment tugged at Elara's chest. "If you're busy, don't worry about it. We can do it another time."
"I'm not busy. It's just that my mother has been nagging me to come over for dinner. She's asked several times, and if I don't show up today, she'll probably blow a gasket." Zane paused, his tone turning incredibly gentle. "Go home and wait for me, okay?"
