After he finished speaking. Ryan locked his eyes on Natalie, waiting for her to admit she was just messing around.

Natalie looked at him, her expression still calm, and nodded slightly.

“Yeah, I know,” she said.

Everyone in the living room let out a sigh of relief, thinking Natalie had finally admitted she was joking.

Ryan patted his chest, looking smug and relieved, as if he’d known it all along.

“See? I knew it! 1599, top scorer nationwide? No way! Natalie, you nearly scared me to death!” Ryan said.

Jason laughed too, bending down to pick up his phone from the floor.

“That joke was so wild, it made me drop my phone,” Jason added.

Natalie blinked. “I’m not joking.”

Then she pulled up her score page on her phone, placed it on the table, and turned it so everyone could see.

The screen was lit up, clearly displaying-

[Name: Natalie]

[Total Score: 1599]

[State Rank: 1]

[National Rank: 1]

The living room went dead silent, so quiet one could hear a pin drop.

All seven pairs of eyes locked onto the screen, their faces shifting from relaxed to frozen, then to shocked, and finally, just plain dumbfounded.

One second

Two seconds

Three seconds

And then-

“Holy crap!!”

Ryan was the first to snap out of it, practically leaping off the couch

1599? Is this for real? You’re actually number one in the whole country?! Natalie, you really pulled this off? Ryan shouted. his voice cracking with disbelief.

Everyone else was so stunned, they couldn’t even get a word out

“Wait… how is this even possible? Didn’t you used to be at the bottom of the class?” someone finally managed to stammer

“Yeah.. oh my god, she’s literally the top science student in the whole country!” another exclaimed, still in shock.

“That’s a record–breaking SAT score–just one point shy of perfection?!”

Perfect in physics… perfect in math… perfect in foreign language… and only lost a single point in literature?!”

As they recited the scores, everyone drew in a sharp breath.

You have to realize, this year’s SAT was insanely tough. Every subject was basically hell mode.

If their memory served, the second–highest science score nationwide was only 725. Natalie was way out in front. There was a massive gap, she was in a league of her own!

That’s insane!!

Charlotte was so excited her fingers were shaking. “Nat, is this really true?”

Natalie crossed her legs, propped her chin on one hand, and smiled as she nodded at them.

William stared at the phone screen, blinking in disbelief. “Man, our ancestors must be smiling down on us. We’ve got an SAT champion in the Mitchell family!”

Andrew sat up straight, still in shock, and couldn’t help but ask, “Natalie, weren’t you always at the bottom of the class before?

Ryan chimed in, “Yeah, seriously! How did you go from last in the whole grade to number one in the whole country?!”

Natalie glanced at everyone staring at her like puppies waiting for treats, and said with a lazy shrug, “The test was way too easy. I just didn’t feel like bothering with it before.”

The living room went totally silent again.

Their expressions were all over the place, like someone had just spilled a paint palette.

Ryan & mouth was hanging open so wide he could’ve fit an egg in it, and he just couldn’t close it.

you just couldn’t be bothered to answer the questions?” Ryan stammered, still in shock.

Ethan Mitchell narrowed his eyes and pushed up his glasses.

you were at the bottom of the class before just because the questions were too easy, and you just didn’t bother to do them than asked wall trying to process it

Natalie thought for a moment

Pretty much if I got a lagh score they’d make me go up and walk everyone through the answers such a hassle she replied totally unfazed

Honestly I’d rather take a nap Natalic thought to hersell

Everyone gaped at Natalie stunned by how unfazed she was like this was just another ordinary day for her

“Natalie! How can you be so amazing You’re seriously next level! Ryan exclaimet lux jaw practically on the floot

Jason stared at Natalie like she was a walking myth his eyes shuning with pure admiration
