After speaking, Zion seemed to remember something. In the end, he decided to tell Winter anyway.

“G didn’t leave you behind on purpose. He ran into Chris’s people and got hurt. You know Gavin, the big guy by Chris’s side. His fighting ability is terrifying.”

Every time Zion had gone up against Gavin before, he had been pinned down in fewer than ten moves. Because of that, he had never really known Gavin’s true level.

But last time, on the cruise ship, Gavin had saved him. That was when Zion realized he really was the real deal.

Winter’s eyes paused.

Roy was hurt?

Had she been wrong?

“Is it bad?” she asked, her voice tense. Roy had gotten hurt because of her, after all. And just moments earlier, she had even suspected he might be one of Chris’s people.

Gavin had the kind of cold, sharply handsome face that could make plenty of girls lose their heads, but his fighting skills really were frighteningly strong.

Back when she was learning combat from Roy, she had quietly compared Roy and Gavin in her mind. She had seen Roy fight with her own eyes, and she had seen Gavin in action too.

As far as she was concerned, the two of them should have been evenly matched.

Roy actually lost to Gavin?

Zion shook his head. “I haven’t gone to see G yet. He only said he was injured. But that guy would never admit it even if he were badly hurt. Still, if he couldn’t protect you, then it was probably serious. I’ll go see him later.”

Before Gavin had saved him, Zion had actually planned to have Roy teach Gavin a lesson. Now it was obvious Gavin wasn’t someone to mess with.

After thinking for a moment, Winter said, “I’ll go with you tomorrow.”

Since Chris had managed to intercept her, he probably already knew she was trying to leave Liono City. For the time being, she was likely not going anywhere.

But Chris should have been in detention.
