The Scorned Heiress's Hidden Empire (by Jade Quinn) novel Chapter 383

William took a break and got ready to change into his second outfit.

He strode over to them. “Sean, what are you doing here?”

He walked up beside Winter and casually draped an arm over her shoulders, as naturally as if they were best friends.

Sean’s gaze moved briefly over Winter’s shoulder before he looked away. “It’s your first job since the injury. I came to check on you. How are you holding up?”

“Couldn’t be better.” William lightly tapped his fingers against Winter’s shoulder a few times.

Winter understood right away. She took his thermos out of her bag, flipped open the lid, and held it to his mouth.

William was too lazy to take it himself. He simply lowered his head, closed his lips around the straw, and took a few sips.

Winter waited until he finished, then closed the lid and put the thermos back into her bag.

Clearly pleased with her reaction, William smiled at Sean. “My assistant for the day. What do you think?”

Sean glanced at Winter. “Not bad.”

When William went to the dressing room to change, Winter sat by the fireplace, eating a roasted sweet potato with a spoon.

The weather was gradually warming up. According to the forecast, Liono City would be leaving winter behind starting next week.

Inside the dressing room, the stylist was helping William adjust his outfit.

William glanced at Sean, who was sitting on the couch and casually flipping through a magazine.

“You can go take care of something else first,” William told the stylist.

After the stylist left, William walked over and sat down on the couch.

He sat back with his legs spread, completely at ease. “What was so important that you had to come here yourself?”

“I already told you. You didn’t believe me, so don’t ask.” Sean didn’t look up.

“Is it because of Winter?” William pressed his tongue against the roof of his mouth.

Sean turned a page of the magazine. “Didn’t you say she and Chris were never legally married? How long are you planning to keep hiding this?”

William’s gaze stilled.

He could hide his feelings from everyone else, but not from Sean.

Sean had practically raised him. How could he possibly believe William was really into men?

It was nothing more than a cover William used to hide what he truly felt.
