The Scorned Heiress's Hidden Empire (by Jade Quinn) novel Chapter 431

“She’s still under observation in the ICU. No visitors allowed yet.”

After Gavin finished speaking, he picked up his jacket and put it on. The moment he turned around, he saw William walking toward them.

After the explosion, Sean had shielded William, so his concussion wasn’t too serious. As soon as William woke up, he rushed over. He had already gone to the ICU once. Winter had run into some complications earlier, but thankfully, she was stable now.

He could only stand outside the ICU. Since he couldn’t see her, he came to check on Chris instead.

William knew better than anyone that Chris had been injured this badly because he had saved Winter.

“Did the doctors say anything?”

Chris had been in there for a long time. When emergency treatment lasted this long, it usually meant things were bad. Neither Gavin nor Dominic mentioned that the doctors had already issued a critical condition notice.

“We wait,” Dominic said. “Chris will make it through this.”

He believed Chris would pull through.

Harvey and Winter were both waiting for him. Chris would wake up.

Mr. White nodded and said to the others, “I’ll go check on Ms. Winter.”

“You still can’t see her,” William reminded him.

“I’ll go anyway,” Mr. White said, turning toward the ICU. His voice dropped into a murmur. “Even standing outside her room is better than nothing.”

William knew Mr. White had watched Winter grow up. It was only natural for him to worry about her and feel sorry for her, so he said nothing more.

If Chris hadn’t been injured saving Winter, William would have gone straight back to wait outside her ICU room. But because Chris had saved her life, William knew he should stay here until Chris was out of danger.

That afternoon, Winter was moved from the ICU to a VIP room,

Liono City had entered its rainy season. The rain came and went all day before finally stopping near evening.

“I’ll do it.”

In the hospital room, a piece of gauze was taped to William’s forehead. He took the bowl of oatmeal from Wendy, sat down beside the bed, skimmed a spoonful from the top, and brought it to Winter’s lips.

Winter moved her pale lips, about to say she didn’t want to eat, but William pushed the spoon into her mouth first.
