Chapter 432
“This…”
Dominic’s chest tightened. He instinctively looked at Chris.
There was no question who Winter meant. She was talking about Chris.

After everything they had just survived, Dominic knew Winter well enough to know she wouldn’t say something that cruel just because she was angry. Even if she hated Chris for what he had done, those words carried the kind of bitterness that only came from a much deeper wound.
What Chris had done before had been awful.
But to Dominic, it had never seemed bad enough to create that kind of hatred.
So what exactly had happened?
He looked at Chris again and saw the stiffness in his face, the red in his eyes.
Any normal man would be devastated after hearing the woman he loved say something like that. But Chris looked worse than heartbroken. Worse than hurt.
Dominic had known him since they were kids, and he had never seen that expression on Chris’s face before.
He was about to speak when Chris’s face shifted. The raw emotion disappeared, replaced by that cold, detached look he always
wore.
There it was again.
That impossible, lifeless expression.
Just thinking about Chris and Winter gave Dominic a headache.
Before, he had always felt it wasn’t his place to interfere in Chris’s love life. But now he knew Harvey was still alive. He had to think about his nephew.
“Here’s what we’re going to do.”
Dominic patted the back of the wheelchair.
“You sit down, and I’ll push you in. Once you’re in front of her, keep your voice low. Better yet, sound like you’re barely hanging
for you.” on. Frown a little. Cough once in a while. Let her see how weak you are right now. Make her feel sorry for you
But Chris didn’t wait for him to finish.
Or maybe he hadn’t been listening at all.
He pushed open the half-closed door and walked into the room.
“No, Chris, listen to me. I’m telling you, this will work.”
Dominic hurried after him with the wheelchair.
