Gavin quickly bowed and gave a brief rundown of the situation. When he finished, he stole a glance at Andrew’s face, trying to gauge his mood.
Andrew’s lips thinned into a straight line as he listened. He glanced back at the arena. Even though he was worried, he chose to stay on the sidelines and watch. He knew Natalie would never make a move unless she was sure of herself.
Out on the grass track, Natalie was just about to mount. She pushed off lightly with her left foot, her right leg sweeping up in a smooth arc. Using the momentum, she spun gracefully and made a stylish leap onto the saddle.
This mounting technique demanded strong core strength and excellent balance. It was difficult, but it minimally disturbed the horse.
Sienna’s eyes widened in surprise at Natalie’s skill, and admiration quickly flashed across her face.
Onyx definitely didn’t see Natalie pulling off a move like that.
The moment Natalie launched herself into the air, Onyx’s ears shot up, and his muscles tensed instinctively. But she was too fast. By the time he realized what was happening, she was already in the saddle, having landed as lightly as a feather.
Onyx suddenly shuddered.
Natalie knew this was coming. ‘Here comes the rebellion.‘
Onyx let out a sharp, piercing whinny, threw his neck back, and reared up so high that his front hooves left the ground, almost standing upright.
This was the go–to trick for a wild horse to ditch its rider.
One of the staff on the sidelines couldn’t help but let out a gasp.
Andrew’s fingers tightened instantly, and his knuckles turned white.
Sienna’s heart was in her throat, and Moonlight, sensing her anxiety, pawed the ground nervously.
But Natalie was ready for it. The instant Onyx reared, she didn’t lean back and fight him. Instead, she moved with him, folding forward and settling deep into the saddle. Her legs locked tight against his sides, and her boots stayed firm in the stirrups.
She didn’t yank on the reins either. She knew that would only provoke him further.
At the same time, she lowered herself over his arched neck, almost pressing her upper body against him. Tilting her head, she brought her cheek close to his warm skin and murmured a few low, steady words, so soft that only Onyx could hear them.
Everyone stared, puzzled, wondering what she was up to. They thought Onyx was about to toss her off any second. Sienna was on standby, ready to intervene if needed.
Andrew was already mounted, inconsciously holding his breath. His grip on the reins was tight, ready to rush in to protect

Natalie if anything went wrong.
Onyx was reared up, almost vertical, reaching the peak of his stance.

Just when everyone thought he was about to throw Natalie off or go wild with a buck, he strangely paused for a split
second. His wild, fiery eyes met Natalie’s calm, unwavering human gaze, so close that they were almost touching.
Time seemed to stretch out.
Then, his front hooves, raised high, landed firmly back on the ground.
Everyone was stunned.
“Onyx didn’t buck her off?”
“Onyx’s actually letting her stay?”
As if to prove everyone right, Natalie rode Onyx, leading him in a steady walk across the grass.
Onyx didn’t resist at all. His steps went from cautious to smooth and lively.
Onyx held his head high, his powerful neck arched, and his mane flying in the wind. He didn’t look like a horse being
ridden so much as one moving beside a partner he had chosen for himself, the two of them seeming almost like equals.
Natalie sat tall in the saddle, her grip on the reins just right. Her face was still calm, not a hint of emotion showing.
