Chapter 485
Mr. Simmons Sr. took a sip of water, set the insulated cup back on the table, and snapped.
“Win her back, my ass!
“Are you out of your damn mind?
“If you were ready to risk everything back then, why did you hurt her this badly? And now you want to win her back? Life doesn’t work that way.”
Although he was Chris’s grandfather, Mr. Simmons Sr. had always been fair to a fault. Right was right, and wrong was wrong. Family was no exception.
Even if his own daughter were standing in front of him today, speaking up for Chris, he would scold her
too.
Sitting there scolding him wasn’t enough to relieve his anger, so he stood up, pointed at Chris, and
continued.
“I don’t care how much pain you’ve been carrying. You caused this mess, so you need to live with the consequences. A woman is meant to be loved and cherished, not hurt. I don’t even want to waste my breath listing all the stupid things you’ve done.
“If you want to win her back, slow down first. With the way Winnie feels about you right now, the harder you push, the more she’ll pull away. Don’t actually drive her into a corner.”
He looked at Chris, both angry and helpless.
He knew Chris’s temper better than anyone. He had watched him grow up..
But no matter what, Chris was still his own grandson. Once he was done scolding him, that was enough.
“Focus on recovering first.”
Chris said nothing.
Mr. Simmons Sr. slapped him on the shoulder and scolded, “Did you hear me or not?”
Chris’s injury was right on his shoulder and back. The slap sent pain shooting through him, but he didn’t so much as flinch. He didn’t even frown.
“There’s something else I’ve been hiding from you.”
Mr. Simmons Sr. had just been wondering if he had hit him too hard. But the moment he heard that, his brows drew together.
No wonder Chris had stayed quiet.
He was guilty.

“What did you do behind my back this time?”
“Sit down first,” Chris said, giving him a meaningful look.
Ten years ago, Chris had kept it from him that he was working undercover at the border. He had only told Mr. Simmons Sr. after leaving the military and returning to Liono City.
