The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon

Chapter 100

26 vaurke

The woman walks forward with calm, confident steps, as though every corner of the castle still belongs to her memories She doesn’t hurry, nor does she try to draw anyone’s attention. She doesn’t need to. Her mere presence is enough to make the entire atmosphere around her seem to change.

She is tall. Slender. Elegant.

Her blonde hair falls in soft waves over her shoulders, and her striking blue eyes calmly sweep across the dining room. Her fair skin barely reveals the passage of time, and anyone would swear she is a woman in her early forties, not someone who has lived for centuries and once wore this kingdom’s crown.

When she walks, it’s as if the world slows down just to watch her.

Magnus rises to his feet immediately. Beta Victorius does the same, followed by his son, Alaric.

Bastian squeezes my hand and helps me to my feet before I even have time to react.

Smiles appear almost simultaneously on every face…

Except one.

Silas remains seated, his arms crossed and an expression caught somewhere between regret, resignation, and an overwhelming urge to escape through the nearest window.

“You don’t need to defend me, my dear.” Sonia offers Magnus a warm smile before slowly turning her head toward Silas. The gentleness disappears from her face in an instant as she fixes him with a look sharp enough to cut through steel. “I can do that myself.”

Just like that, the tension vanishes as quickly as it appeared.

“My sweet boy!” she exclaims, opening her arms the moment she sees Bastian. “Come give your grandmother a hug. I’ve missed you so much!”

My mate doesn’t hesitate for a second. He crosses the dining room in two long strides, wraps her in an embrace with an affection I’ve never seen him show in public, kisses both of her cheeks, and lifts her a few inches off the floor, drawing a bright laugh from her that quickly spreads to everyone else.

“Grandma… I’m so happy to see you.”

Grandmother’s warm gaze settles over me like a blanket in the middle of winter. Her lips curve into a smile full of affection as she steps away from her grandson and approaches me without the slightest hurry. There’s nothing rushed about her movements, no stiffness in the way she carries herself. Everything about her radiates a peace that feels almost out of place in a kingdom where war seems to linger in every corner.

“Celine Miller, it’s a pleasure to finally meet you. My son has spoken wonderfully of you.”

She takes my hand in both of hers with almost motherly tenderness. Her fingers, warm and soft despite the passing centuries, gently brush my skin before coming to rest on my ring finger. The absence of a ring makes her brows knit together ever so slightly, and the surprise on her face lasts only a moment.

“I see you’re not wearing an engagement ring yet.”

Honestly, I don’t even know how to react.

Before I can answer, she closes the small distance between us and gently cups my face in her hands as though it were the most natural thing in the world. Her thumbs stroke my cheeks with such genuine affection that it completely catches me off guard. It’s been a very long time since anyone looked at me like that… without distrust, without fear, without expecting

anything from me.

Then she slowly turns toward Bastian.

Tm giving you exactly one hour to put the finest ring in the entire kingdom on my granddaughter’s finger, or you’re not going to like what I do to you, sweetheart.”

My mate immediately turis pale.

The scene is so absurd that I have to fight not to laugh.

The truth is, neither of us had even thought about something as simple as a ring. Ever since I arrived in the Thorn Kingdom, we haven’t had a single moment to breathe. I spent time in the hospital, traveled to the southern part of the kingdom, met people who needed help, did everything I could to support them, tried to understand the mystery surrounding my blood, crossed into the human world, and came back only to face new problems between Bastian and me, jealousy, and responsibilities.

A ring had become the least of our concerns.

Besides…

I have Erebus.

I don’t need a piece of jewelry to remind me of the commitment I’ve made.

“I already have the most beautiful ring in the kingdom, Grandma. I just… forgot to give it to her.”

“You can’t forget something that important, Basti.” She scolds him with a sweetness that somehow makes her words even harder to ignore. “Go get the ring. Right now.”

I want to laugh when I hear the nickname my mate hates so much.

I’m convinced that anyone else bold enough to call him that would end up frozen solid before finishing the word.

Yet, to my surprise, Bastian doesn’t complain or roll his eyes. He doesn’t even try to defend himself. He simply lets out a resigned sigh, rubs the back of his neck, and lowers his head like a little boy who has just been caught doing something he shouldn’t.

“Yes, Grandma…”

Without another word, he turns on his heel and leaves the dining room at a brisk pace, almost too quickly for someone who usually walks with the confidence of a man destined to rule an entire continent.

I can’t help watching him until he disappears through the doorway.

I never imagined that the future king of the Thorn Kingdom, the man capable of facing entire armies without flinching. would have a single weakness.

His grandmother.

Sonia smiles at me once more and returns to the table with the same serenity she’d risen with. But as she takes her seat, one small detail immediately catches my attention.

Instead of sitting beside Silas, as I’d expected, she chooses a chair at one end of the long table, leaving two empty seats between them.

My gaze shifts from her to Silas, then lingers on the silent space separating them.

No one says a word.
