The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon (Celine and Bastian) novel Chapter 99

Chapter 99

One hour later, we head downstairs to the dining room. My palms are sweaty, and I keep wiping them against my surt trying to dry them with little success. I take a deep breath as I walk beside Bastian, but my nerves are still there, Buttering in my stomach. I can’t stop thinking about how I should speak to her, how I should act, or even how I should behave in front of her.

Sonia Davis isn’t just any she-wolf. She’s Bastian’s grandmother, the king’s mother, and… Silas’s wife? Honestly, I’m not even sure about that. I never asked Bastian, and now I regret it. She was once a queen. A real queen. A woman who ruled this kingdom long before I was even born, and who surely knows everything I’m still trying to learn.

Don’t worry. You’re nervous over nothing.” My mate takes my hand, intertwines our fingers, and gently strokes my skin with his thumb as we walk down the hallway. “My grandmother isn’t some evil witch, sweetheart.”

Astra, my wolf, is completely satisfied in her corner after the scorching night we had. According to my mate, it was all a “punishment.”

A delicious punishment.

I’ll never admit it out loud, especially not in front of him, but if all his punishments were like that, I’d probably misbehave a lot more often.

The thought alone makes me frown slightly.

There’s something no one has told me.

Once we’re inside the dining room, Bastian formally introduces me to the Royal Beta. The man offers me a warm smile and

a slight nod, which I return with the same respect before walking over to Magnus to kiss his cheek. Then I take my seat beside my mate.

Little by little, I begin to relax.

Maybe I overreacted a little.

Maybe meeting Grandmother, a former queen, won’t be as intimidating as I imagined.

I wrap my hands around the porcelain cup and take my first sip of freshly brewed coffee, enjoying the warmth as it slowly slides down my throat.

I don’t get to take a second sip.

The dining room doors open again, and the sound of the hinges makes all of us look up at the same time.

Silas Thorn walks in with his usual heavy stride, but one look is enough to tell me something isn’t right.

There are deep shadows beneath his eyes, his hair is slightly disheveled, and his jaw is so tight it looks like he’s been grinding his teeth for hours.

He walks in wearing an expression of absolute annoyance, as though simply being awake is already a tremendous sacrifice.

Wasn’t he supposed to be happy to see his mate again?

Something is going on here….

Or something happened a long time ago.

“Good morning…” he grumbles with obvious reluctance.

“Good morning, we all reply in unison, except for Magnus, who merely smirks.

Not subtle at all.

“Rough night, Father?”

The barely concealed mockery in Magnus’s voice makes Bastian chuckle, while Beta Victorius and Alaric exchange a quick glance.

Both seem to reach the exact same conclusion at the same time.

It would be far wiser to be anywhere else in the kingdom than sitting at this table.

Silas snorts, pulls out a chair with more force than necessary, and sits down.

The wood creaks beneath his weight as he folds his arms and fixes his son with a poisonous glare.

The dark circles beneath his eyes and the obvious foul mood radiating from him would make anyone think twice before speaking to him.

“You little traitor… I’m going to kill you.” He frowns even more and points an accusing finger at Magnus. “Why the hell didn’t you tell me your mother was coming to the kingdom?”
