The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon (Celine and Bastian) novel Chapter 123

Chapter 123

There’s something about him that doesn’t belong in this place, something I can’t identify.

Something dangerous.

“Go get the suitcases.”

His voice is calm, almost indifferent.

Beatriz takes a few seconds to react.

“But…”

The warlock slowly turns his head toward her. He doesn’t have to raise his voice or threaten her. The look on his face is enough to make her fall silent.

“You paid for a portal, and that’s exactly what you’ll get.”

His gaze returns to me, and for a moment I have the unsettling feeling that he’s studying me, as though I’m the real reason he’s here.

Then he speaks.

“And neither of you will ever lay another hand on the Princess of the North.”

My eyes remain fixed on him as I try to understand what he means by calling me the “Princess of the North.”

“I’m willing to give you whatever you want. I only need to know one thing.” I shift my gaze to Beatriz, completely ignoring the irritation that flashes across her face. “Where are my father and my brother? What did you do to them?”

For a moment, Beatriz seems to forget the warlock is standing in the room. The mask she’s worn ever since she arrived at the castle disappears completely.

“They’re rotting somewhere in the Dark Forest.”

Her words drip with resentment.

“They never really mattered to me. Your father was useful for years, but once he lost everything because of you, he stopped being worth anything to me. It wasn’t difficult to manipulate them, Celine. It wasn’t difficult to make them hate you, to feed their insecurities and poison their hearts until they saw you as the one responsible for every problem in their lives.”

I watch her in silence, not because her words hurt me, but because they stopped hurting me a long time ago. Beatriz could insult me for hours and she’d never find the little girl who used to cry while hoping that one day she’d finally hold her in her arms. That little girl disappeared a long time ago, back in that house where she learned that love doesn’t always come from / blood.

There is one thing that catches my attention, though.

The Dark Forest.

Because that’s where my father and my brother are.

The Dark Forest? Where is that?” I ask, frowning as I rise to my feet.

I don’t pay any attention to the way she’s trying to hurt me. Her words no longer have any power over me. The only thing that matters now is finding out where Darius and Cassius are.

Dvour he

When I turn my eyes back to the warlock, I find him watching me with a different expression. He ults his head slightly to one side, and a slow smile spreads across his lips, as though I’ve just confirmed something he already knew.

Was it true that he was sick, or was that part of the lie too?” I ask without taking my eyes off him. “You came to the castle asking for a place to stay, pretending you needed my help, and it was all a trap from the very beginning. You knew I’d want to see my father and my brother.”

Beatriz doesn’t answer.

The silence confirms more than enough.

“He isn’t sick,” the warlock answers before she can. “He’s only badly injured.”

His calmness is more unsettling than any threat.

“We needed to bring you here, and that was the only way to do it. A strong enough incentive to make you cooperate without resisting.”

I clench my teeth.

Everything falls into place.

The visit to the castle.

Beatriz’s words.

The supposed illness.

The carefully staged desperation.

It was all designed to bring me here.

“Enough.”

The warlock’s voice cuts through the room with absolute authority.
