The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon
Chapter 134
Valeria
Larissa still hasn’t returned. She left for Avalon hours ago, and we haven’t heard from her since. The poor girl who arrived before dawn hasn’t done anything but cry ever since Vladimir confessed that her mate has remained unconscious since the day Johan attacked him. For Celine, only two months have passed, but in Lemuria, more than a year has gone by since her disappearance.
I don’t know her whole story, but I don’t need to.
Some kinds of pain don’t require an explanation to be recognized.
It’s enough to watch the way she presses her lips together to hold back her tears, how she looks away whenever someone mentions her family, or the way her hands instinctively reach for Erebus’s hilt as though that steel were the only thing sti keeping her on her feet. I’ve seen that expression far too many times in my life.
It’s the look of someone who has lost too much and still forces herself to keep moving.
Part of me wants to hug her and tell her everything will be all right, even though I can’t promise that myself.
Vladimir left a little while ago to look for his mother. If there’s any chance of recovering the memories Johan stole from her. I’m convinced Larissa and Morgana are the only ones capable of doing it.
Still, that’s not the only concern hanging over the room.
Celine’s blood.
Johan took it for a reason, and none of us believes it was out of mere curiosity.
If he truly intends to use it to experiment on other wolves, then this is no longer just Lemuria’s problem.
It becomes everyone’s problem.
The terrible race stands on the brink of extinction. For years, I believed my father had been the last of our kind. Before him came my grandmother, Ylva, and after that, I thought my children and I were the only descendants left alive.
Now Celine is here, standing in front of me, bearing the exact same markings I do and holding a sword identical to mine.
Every passing minute brings more questions.
Not a single answer.
“I have to get to Greenland, find my grandfather’s castle, and return through the portal that will take me home.” Celine wipes away her tears with the back of her hand and walks purposefully toward the table where the two swords rest.
She reaches for Erebus and wraps her fingers around the hilt, convinced she’ll be able to lift it as always.
The sword doesn’t move.
She frowns and tries again, this time putting far more strength into it, until the muscles in her arm tense beneath her sweater, but the result is exactly the same.
Erebus remains motionless beside Idunn, as though neither sword is willing to be separated from the other.
“Why can’t I lift her?”
Zharzel. Tanner, and Christian immediately step closer. The others slowly rise from their seats, forming a semicircle around

the table without taking their eyes off the two blades.

“Now that’s strange.” Zharzel scratches his chin as he studies them with almost childlike curiosity. “Try lifting them both at the same time.”
Celine looks at him suspiciously, but she does as he says. She grips both hilts and pulls at the same time.
The two swords rise effortlessly.
She holds them in the air for several seconds before carefully placing them back on the table, and almost every pair of eyes turns toward me at once.
A chill runs down my spine.
An unpleasant pressure settles in my chest, as though some part of me already knows the answer but refuses to accept it.
“Valeria… try lifting them together.”
I nod silently.
I walk slowly toward the table as every gaze follows me. The air seems heavier somehow.
I wrap my fingers around both hilts, take a deep breath, and pull.
Nothing.
I try again, using even more strength until I feel the strain spread through my arms and shoulders, but the result is exactly the same.
The swords remain motionless on the table, utterly indifferent to my efforts, as though they had decided that my sword, Idunn, no longer belongs to me.
“I can’t…” I murmur in surprise. “I can’t lift them.”
A murmur ripples through the room.
Tanner exchanges a glance with Savannah, unable to hide his confusion. Koorush remains perfectly still, though the slight furrow in his brow makes it clear he can’t explain what just happened either.
Even Vladimir, who has just returned accompanied by his mother and Morgana, stops the moment he steps through the portal.
The three of them stand motionless, silently watching the scene, their eyes fixed on the two swords resting on the table, as though they feared interrupting something far greater than any of us.
