Chapter 14
Pups… I had never really thought about having them. In fact, I always believed no male would ever look at me as someone worth building a family with. The only ones I ever saw were the gammas going in and out of the pack house and they never truly looked at me. My father and brother barely paid attention to me except to punish me, and I only saw Beta Christian every once in a while.
I don’t feel attractive enough and I can’t, or rather, I refuse to believe what Bastian says about me
I feel so insignificant beside him and, without meaning to, I look at him again while a knot slowly grows in my throat The highway lights pass through the windshield, briefly illuminating the serious profile of his face.
“I’m not pretty, Bastian.” I murmur, lowering my gaze to my legs. “It’s the mate bond making you believe I am.”
Bastian lets out a low sigh and slightly shakes his head, as if he truly cannot understand how I could think something like that about myself.
“Beauty does not always come from physical appearance, Celine. There are people so attractive they could take your breath away and inside they are full of worms.” He says without taking his eyes off the road. The white lights of passing vehicles occasionally flash across his dark eyes. “Then there are plain-looking people with an inner beauty that could dazzle even a blind man and, finally, there are people like you, with both outer and inner beauty that they still cannot see.”
The silence inside the vehicle feels warm and strange after hearing him speak like that.
“You are beautiful, Celine, and when you finally begin to see yourself for what you truly are, you’ll notice it too.”
I smile faintly without fully believing what he says about me, but I do believe the rest. My father, my brothers and even Luna Beatriz possess a physical beauty impossible to ignore, but they are not good people. I suppose that is what he means when he talks about worms.
Thank you for being so kind to me.” My voice comes out softer than I expected. “It’s hard for me to believe there is truly anything beautiful in me. My body…”
“Your body was mistreated, but that can be fixed.” He interrupts firmly, though without harshness. “You were malnourished for years and that’s why you are so thin, but you will not stay this way forever.”
For the first time since we left the pack, he takes his eyes off the road for a few seconds to look directly at me
“I will take you to the best doctors in the kingdom to help you recover and, when you see the change, you will finally believe me, my Luna.”
His words make something inside my chest tighten slowly. I am not used to someone talking about my future as if they truly expect me to have one.
We didn’t say anything else. He drove for a while longer until we stopped in front of a huge illuminated store that was about to close. The white lights of the place reflect against the spotless glass windows and several mannequins display clothes tar too elegant and expensive for someone like me..
Bastian gets out first, walks around the vehicle, and opens my door to help me out.
The cold night air hits my face the moment I step outside.
From one moment to the next, Bastian seems irritated and I don’t understand whether it’s because of me or something else. The other vehicles stop behind ours and their passengers quickly step out, but none of them look directly at me. Jared approaches us while nervously adjusting the old jacket he’s wearing when Bastian carefully takes my hand.
“What are we doing here?” I ask quietly while he opens the huge glass door for me.

The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon
“My dear father had the brilliant idea of telling the entire kingdom that I found you and now half the damned continent is gathered waiting for our arrival” He growls lightly as we walk through the enormous empty store “We need to change into something more appropriate.”
“Appropriate” I look at the reflection of my body in one of the shining windows. “What’s wrong with what we re wearing
Bastian lets out a tired sigh and behind us I hear a:
“Wooooow..”
For a second, I forgot that Jared is coming with us too.
The boy turns in circles, looking at absolutely everything. The golden lamps, the enormous mirrors, the shiny floors, and the perfectly arranged clothes seem to have left him speechless.
“Sir, we’re closing and…”
Bastian places a black metal card on the counter and the saleswoman immediately shuts her mouth.
“Well, good thing you’re closing for others and not for me.” His voice instantly turns cold and authoritative “Two suits. shoes, and a dress for the young lady. Now.”
The woman pales slightly and nods quickly.
“Bastian, you don’t need to buy anything.” I gently tug on his hand so he’ll look at me.
