The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon (Celine and Bastian) novel Chapter 142

Chapter 142

Dark blood begins to run down, dripping onto the stone floor and spreading through the cracks in thin black streams before he/with the same calmness he used to drive them in, tears the swords from his body.

He doesn’t even take a step back.

“Helel. She will absorb the souls of her enemies. Stronger and more powerful than any other.”

He hands the sword, still stained with his blood, to the elder son.

“And Erebus. The one who subdues and tests its bearer. No one who doesn’t carry my blood will be able to wield them…or keep them.”

The brothers receive the swords with both hands, unable to take their eyes off them.

Legion watches them for a long moment.

There’s something in his eyes that tightens my chest. It isn’t sadness. It isn’t resignation either. It’s the look of someone who already knows the fate awaiting them and understands there’s nothing he can do to change it.

“Thank you, Father.”

The two bow their heads at the same time, gripping the gifts they have just received.

“Where will you go?”

“Will we ever see you again?”

Legion slowly shakes his head and starts walking toward the door.

“You can’t go where I’m going… and I won’t be able to return after I do. So this is goodbye.”

He doesn’t stop.

He doesn’t look back.

All I hear is the sound of Helel and Erebus leaving the hands of their rightful owner.

I follow him. My feet begin moving on their own again until I see him stop in the middle of the snow. The wind stirs his dark hair and the fur cloak draped over his shoulders as he stands motionless, staring at the horizon.

“I can feel you. Don’t think I haven’t noticed.”

My blood turns to ice when, without turning around, he tilts his head ever so slightly toward the place where I’m standing.

“But I can’t see you. You’re like a shadow following me. Your scent… it’s different, but I’ll remember it if we ever meet again.”

“Can you hear me too?”

This time, he answers.

“I can hear you.”

Without taking his eyes off the landscape, he begins removing the heavy fur cloak, which lands in the snow with a dull thud. Then he slips off his boots and pulls off his shirt, revealing a body marked by ancient scars that time had never managed to erase. The cold doesn’t seem to affect him in the slightest.

The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon

“Are you the woman my wife spoke about?”

U vore

“Yes.” My own voice sounds more uncertain than I’d like. “But you can’t follow me or interfere in my life I have a husband. and I’m expecting a child.”

Legion remains silent for several seconds before slowly nodding.

Then something happens that stops my heart.

Two enormous black wings burst from his back with a sharp snap. He spreads them wide, but no feathers appear. They re vast, elegant, dark membranes, much like a bat’s wings, large enough to nearly envelop him completely. They’re as breathtaking as they are imposing, and for a moment, I can’t look away.

“Then I’ll wait until he dies… or until you need me, if you’re ever in danger.”

“You won’t hurt him, will you? You’ll wait… just as she asked you to.”

“Time doesn’t exist…”

i

He lifts his gaze toward the night sky as he crouches to scoop up a handful of snow. He watches it slowly melt across his palm before letting the wind carry away the last crystals.

“But I’ll be watching.”

He bends his knees, and with one powerful leap accompanied by the thunderous beat of his wings, he launches into the sky. I follow him with my eyes until his silhouette finally disappears into the darkness of the night.

The next thing I see flashes through my mind too quickly.

Images.

Violent scenes in which hundreds of wolves lose their lives while others flee in desperation. The two brothers who swore they would never fight each other end up facing one another, their swords crashing together again and again, as if the blades. themselves were suffering the pain their owners could no longer feel.

Both fall with their brother’s sword piercing their chest, and the very instant their bodies hit the snow, Helel and Erebus vanish as though they had never existed.

Chaos had begun long before that.

The village becomes a vast cemetery covered with blood-soaked bodies, while the houses, reduced to blackened wooden skeletons, continue sending smoke into the gray sky. The visions keep coming. I see wolves descending from the mountains, fleeing to distant lands, boarding wooden ships, crossing the seas, and finding refuge in new packs.

I collapse to my knees as I watch the wolves of my bloodline die by the hundreds.

They’re murdered.

They’re hunted.

Or they end their own lives with their own hands.

Time keeps moving forward without pause. Ages pass. The world changes. The few descendants who survive mix their blood with new Lycan bloodlines, but not even that is enough to save them. Humans, consumed by fear, begin hunting them until they stand on the brink of extinction.

Everything fades away again.

Everything…
