The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon
Chapter 143
S
i watch fragments of her life unfold before my eyes. Her pain. Her losses. Her mates. Her battles. The birth of her children. Years pass in the span of seconds until I see her smiling with a baby in her arms, surrounded by her mates and her children. I squeeze my eyes shut. I’m seeing things I was never meant to witness, feeling emotions that don’t belong to me, but this. this is the moment I’ve been waiting for ever since I crossed the portal into Avalon.
Then everything changes again.
Johan appears before me and drags me through a portal. On the other side is a room where the walls, furniture, curtains. and even the rugs are completely white. The air smells of disinfectant.
Of a hospital.
Of death.
He forces me into a metal chair fitted with restraints. Another woman strikes me over and over while I keep fighting, but the warlock ends up shoving her aside. He protects me from her. They try to remove the sword from my back, but they can’t. Erebus defends itself as well. Bolts of electricity race along the blade and strike anyone who dares touch it.
Eventually they overpower me. They bind my hands and feet and begin drawing my blood.
“Just one bag. That’s enough, or you’ll end up killing her. I made a blood pact,” the warlock says.
“We could drain her completely! What were you thinking making a blood pact?” the woman screams, completely beside herself.
“A little of her blood is all we need.”
The images shift again. Johan and several others experiment with my blood. They try to alter the DNA of other beings lying motionless on different tables, but every attempt fails.
Every one of them dies.
“She’s pregnant,” says one of the men in a white lab coat. He has dark hair, black eyes, and an expression as cold as it is malicious. “Shouldn’t you have let her go a long time ago?”
Johan watches as the man pours a glass of water and slowly brings it to my lips.
“She’s so beautiful.”
“Just give her the water. Later I’ll take her where we agreed.”
“What about the women who handed her over?”
! “Somewhere far from the chaos her family unleashed in Celine’s world.”
The next image shows me lying in a hospital bed.
At the same time, I see myself standing beside my own body, watching everything unfold.
“You’re afraid of this woman. I can see it.”
Johan shoots the same man a murderous glare.
“I’m not afraid. Not of her. We’ll be fine as long as she’s not in danger… or her pup.”
“Then why can’t you let her go?”

Because I feel the mate bond with her

Another scene immediately takes its place. Johan unfastens the restraints holding my body, opens a portal, and gathers me into his arms.
“Where are you going? The last experiment worked. Trihybrids. Wolves, vampires, and demons. The blood of all three mixed with hers was a success. I need more. We don’t have any left.”
That will have to be enough.
Without another word, the warlock steps through the portal carrying me in his arms. On the other side, ram pours relentlessly. It’s cold. The wind lashes through the trees as he lays me gently on the wet grass beside my sword.
At last I can see what happened during those two months.
“You won’t remember this. You won’t know about our bond. But if we ever meet again… reject me, or I won’t be strong enough to let you go.”
He leaves me there, alone, beside my sword, with all my memories erased. The portal slowly disappears behind him, and little by little the images begin to fade as well until darkness wraps around everything once more.
I’ve got you, little wolf.”
The voice is familiar, yet distant, as though it were reaching me from the far end of a long tunnel. Strong arms slide beneath my legs and my back before lifting me effortlessly. I feel the hurried movement of whoever is carrying me, but I can’t open my eyes.
“Where did you find her?”
“Near the apple orchard.”
The voices continue to reach me in a blur. I feel hands wiping the sweat and dirt from my face, my arms, and my hands. Someone drapes a blanket over my body. I try to wake up, move a finger, open my eyes….
But they won’t respond.
“Give her some space. She’ll wake up soon.”
I recognize Larissa’s voice just before I hear the soft click of a door closing.
I try once more to open my eyes, but the exhaustion is too overwhelming.
“Astra…
I’m fine. We’re fine. We’re just exhausted.”
Her voice slowly fades away, and I sink back into a deep sleep, not waking again until I feel the gentle warmth of the sun caressing my cheeks.
“About time you woke up, little wolf.”
I slowly open my eyes and blink several times before the room finally comes into focus. I turn my head toward the owner of the voice and find Vladimir sitting in an old red velvet armchair. His legs are slightly apart, his elbows resting on his knees. He’s dressed in simple clothes, very different from what he usually wears, and the dark circles beneath his eyes, along with his slightly disheveled hair, make it obvious he spent the entire night awake.
Where am I? How did I get back here?”
