The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon
Chapter 145
Little Arman returns to his father, and Killian easily lifts him back onto his lap. The boy snuggles against his chest with complete trust, as if that were the place he had always belonged.
I’m ready to go home now, Your Highness. Thank you for welcoming me into your kingdom when I was a complete stranger. Another time, when my problems have been resolved, I’d like to come back with my mate to thank you properly and bring you some gifts from my homeland.”
There’s nothing to thank me for, Celine. In this kingdom, anyone who needs help and shelter is welcome. He gives me a genuine smile, the kind that reaches his eyes. “I should apologize for my wife’s absence. She’s in the human world right now visiting Valeria and her newborn. As for coming back to visit us, we’ll be delighted to welcome you both.”
I have no doubt his wife is just as kind as he is.
“May I ask you something, sir?”
I let Arman come back for another small piece of apple and take the opportunity to gently stroke his soft, dark hair. The little boy watches me for a moment before happily returning to his father.
“You can ask me anything you want. And stop being so formal with me. I feel much more comfortable when my friends’ friends don’t use titles when they talk to me.”
“That’s actually what I wanted to ask you…” I correct myself with a small smile. “I’m a wolf, and as far as I know, only vampires and a few… witches live here. Aren’t wolves and vampires supposed to have been mortal enemies forever?”
Killian absently settles the little boy more comfortably on one of his legs before answering. Arman plays with one of the laces on his father’s sleeve while he keeps the same calm expression.
“That changed when Avalon became a refuge for many races. Wolves, vampires, demons, shapeshifters… even fairies. The human world suffered too much, so I offered them a place where they could be safe for a while.” His voice carries the same calmness that seems natural to him. “If you really saw what happened to my father, then you also saw the invasion of the infected vampires and the organization that hunted us for years to wipe us out. They’re still out there… although they no longer have the strength they once did. Those were very dark times for the entire supernatural world.”
The Silver Order. I frown as the memories come rushing back. “They experimented with my blood. They mixed it with two other samples and created a… tribrid monster. Vampire, demon, and Dire Wolf. I’m worried about all of you because the last thing I remember hearing from the warlock who took me to them was that they needed my blood to bring all of you under their control. The hybrids… and every other race before wiping them out.”
Killian’s expression changes instantly. Every trace of warmth disappears from his face, replaced by a seriousness that commands silence. Without wasting a second, he stands and lifts Arman into his arms.
“I’m taking my son to Soraya, and I’ll be right back. Everyone in my mother’s pack needs to hear this. Creatures created in a laboratory don’t take long to grow. I know… because I’ve seen it before.”
Without another word, the king leaves the room with the little boy clinging to his neck.
I remain motionless for a moment before pulling the blanket aside and getting out of bed. The wooden floor feels cold beneath my bare feet until I pull my boots back on.
I need to return to Lemuria as soon as possible.
Vladimir, on the other hand, doesn’t move.
He remains standing by the window, completely lost in thought. His arms are crossed over his chest, and a strange, almost unreadable expression hardens his features as he stares at some distant point in the room.

“Any idea why my brother let you go?”
The words linger between us.
I press my lips together and lower my gaze to the floor, unable to answer.
Vladimir understands my silence and doesn’t press any further.
The warlock conjures a small sheet of paper between his fingers. The moment he finishes writing on it, flames burst from its edges and consume it completely, reducing it to a handful of ashes that vanish before our eyes.
“I sent Tanner a fire message telling him to gather everyone at the pack house. Time flows differently here, so by the time we arrive, everyone will be waiting for us. What you have to tell them is extremely important. Just make sure you explain everything clearly.”
I nod slowly.
“That’s exactly what I want to do. Not only to warn them about what’s coming to the human world, but because I also need to get home as soon as possible. Johan said… he said Lemuria is in trouble. My mate has been asleep for more than a year. and your mother promised she’d help me wake him.”
Vladimir holds my gaze with a calmness that, for some reason, manages to ease my mind.
