Chapter 147
A heavy silence settles over the room.
“Are you saying my son is their hostage?” Larissa’s voice is much quieter than before. “Are you sure? Johan can be a very good liar when he wants to be.”
“I’m sure.”
“Why?”
“Because I saw how they treated him. He wasn’t one of them. They treated him like a tool, like he was an object instead of a person. They constantly threatened to murder his family, and as far as I know, his family is the two of you…” I point to Vladimir and then to Larissa. “…and his father. So I don’t think he’s as heartless as you make him out to be, witch.
For the first time since I met her, Larissa doesn’t answer immediately.
Her jaw tightens, and her lips remain pressed into a thin line. The hardness in her expression is still there, but behind it something else begins to surface. Her eyes falter for the briefest moment before dropping to the floor, as though she were trying to sort through thoughts she’d refused to face for far too long. Her fingers tighten around the fabric of her dress, and when she finally raises her head again, she hides every trace of emotion behind the same stern expression as always.
The witch’s icy stare settles on me.
We’d already made it perfectly clear that neither of us could stand the other.
“Mother, stop making her uncomfortable.”
Larissa doesn’t reply. She simply returns to Karin and the two women standing beside her.
My attention shifts toward one corner of the room, where I find Valeria surrounded by her three mates, holding her newborn in her arms. A smile spreads across my lips before I can stop it.
“Congratulations. He’s beautiful.”
“Thank you,” all four of them answer at the same time.
A quiet laugh escapes my lips before I turn my attention back to the rest of the group.
“I’ve told you everything I know. What they did with my blood, what they did to Johan… and what they created to wipe all of you out.”
I look at Vladimir.
“Now I want to go home.”
Vladimir nods and takes a step toward me.
“I’ll take her. That was the agreement.” Larissa’s voice is firm again.
“I’m not going anywhere with you, ma’am. I’m going with Vladimir.”
“And with me.”
Killian’s voice rings clearly through the room.
Beside him, a woman with long black hair and extraordinary beauty rises to join him. The concern reflected on her face is enough to tell me she’s Avalon’s queen.

“If he’s going. I’m going too
Tanner steps forward.
“Me too.”
Christian, one of Valeria’s mates, joins the group.
“And obviously I’m coming as well. The demon absently studies his fingernails before looking up. “Don’t even think about going to an unknown world without me.”
My eyes move from one face to another.
“Right… because we all know the usual suspects would never pass up an adventure. Not even in an unfamiliar world.” Vladimir smiles with quiet resignation. “Anyone else?”
The older members exchange worried glances, but none of them tries to stop them.
Even the bald man who had remained silent until then finally gets to his feet. Beside him rises another man, just as tall, with
a much more serious expression and every bit as strikingly handsome as the others.
“My name is Morthem, ma’am. I’m a half-fairy. The son of the King of Light and the Queen of Darkness.”
“Can you read minds?”
I smile as I gently shake the hand he offers me.
“No. I just noticed you were trying to figure out what I am.”
A warm smile lights up his face.
Little by little, the group of seven men gathers around Vladimir and me.
“Go get your weapons. We leave in five minutes.”
The moment Vladimir finishes speaking, they all disappear in different directions.
The men traveling with us are Zharzel, Morthem, Alec, Tanner, Christian, Ciro, and Darien.
“As you can see, little wolf, none of them wants to be without the warlock who always gets them out of trouble.” Vladimir smiles as he walks over to where I’m standing.
The dark-haired man with black eyes, one of Valeria’s mates, returns to her with Christian and Darien. Without caring how many people are watching, he pulls her into a tight embrace before leaning back just enough to rest his forehead against
hers.
“Larissa, take everyone to Avalon. It’s obvious they’re no longer safe here. We’ll come as soon as we can. The future Queen of Lemuria needs us,” Killian orders.
I shake my head.
Time moves differently in Lemuria. One day here… is one week there.”
Those words alone are enough to change several expressions at once.
“Koorush, prepare the army,” Ciro orders.
His brother and father nod as well.
