The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon (Celine and Bastian) novel Chapter 19

Chapter 19

Voices, soft laughter, and the constant clinking of crystal glasses fill the air.

The interior is exactly as I imagined it. Ancient, elegant, and absurdly expensive.

We cross the grand entrance hall and take a short corridor until we reach tall dark double doors. Two warriors lower their heads before opening them.

Bastian releases my hand to offer me his arm and I immediately remember what he told me while we traveled here.

Look ahead. Don’t look at anyone. Only the king and the throne.

I take a deep breath and Prince Thorn completely changes his posture, the expression on his face, even his eyes.

Goddess.

They are red like two burning embers.

He gives me a small wink and nods to the warriors standing before us. The enormous doors slowly open and little by little the laughter fades, conversations drop to whispers, and dozens of eyes settle on us.

The men accompanying us move ahead first, forming two lines to prevent anyone from getting too close.

Bastian begins walking with me and, without meaning to, I cling a little tighter to his arm.

I search for the king with my gaze and finally find him.

He is young. Much younger than I imagined. He wears a perfectly tailored white suit and his features are almost identical to Bastian’s. A crystal glass with golden edges rests between his fingers and the expression in his black eyes is… well, completely unreadable. Exactly like his son’s.

It doesn’t take long before we stop in front of the throne and King Magnus slowly rises to his feet.

I no longer know how to keep breathing.

My heart pounds so hard I can hear it inside my ears and even so I cannot look away from him.

My instinct to look for Bastian is stronger than my will, so I end up glancing at him slightly. He slowly lowers his arm to take my hand and gently pulls me forward so I step beside him.

“Father. This is Celine Miller, daughter of Alpha Darius Miller of the Blood Moon Pack and my Luna.”

Bastian’s deep voice fills the enormous throne room and for a second I feel every single person present looking at me again.

The king’s dark eyes shine with something I never expected to find there.

Happiness?

Bastian lifts our joined hands and the king extends his own to take mine between his warm and firm hands.

“My Luna, this is my father. Magnus Thorn, king of the vast Moon Shadow Continent.”

I quickly bow in a curtsy, internally begging not to make a mistake.

“It is an honor to meet you. Your Royal Highness.” I reply, trying to sound confident and polite despite the trembling in my chest.

And then… the king’s laughter echoes throughout the enure great hall.

His hands gently pull mine and before I can react he hugs me tightly without stopping laughing.

King Magnus kisses my forehead and whispers near my ear:

“Welcome, daughter.”

Bastian growls faintly, though the sound is so low it almost goes unnoticed.

He releases my other hand when the king, his own father, slightly pushes him aside to guide me a few steps forward and place us before everyone present.

My legs are still trembling.

I smile faintly with my nerves still completely on edge while Magnus continues holding my hand.

“I officially present to you the future queen of Moon Shadow, Celine Miller, mate of my firstborn and mother of all packs. Bow before her.”

The entire hall falls into absolute silence for one second.

And then every single one of them lowers their heads before me.

Without meaning to, I tighten my grip on King Magnus’s hand while trying not to forget how to breathe.

When the king returns the squeeze, I feel his warm aura wrapping around me. I wish I had Bastian’s mark so I could mentally hear the voice of every person slowly straightening before me.

I don’t smile. I only give a small nod while trying to ignore the dozens of eyes fixed on us. There are many wolves and she- wolves watching me carefully and I notice far too many golden eyes among several unmated males.

All of them dressed completely in white.

We, with the exception of Jared in dark blue, are dressed in black.

Bastian, his Gamma warrior escort, Beta Alaric and I look like an oil stain in the middle of a cotton field.

Tailored suits, exclusive designer dresses and jewelry so expensive that, regardless of size, they could probably end hunger in a small country.

It doesn’t bother me that they look at me like some kind of oddity or that some wolves still do not seem to fully understand exactly who my mate is. What does begin to make me uncomfortable are the fake smiles from some of the she-wolves. They remind me of Anne and her mother, Beatriz.

Pureblood Alpha and Beta she-wolves gathered in small groups, looking me up and down without stopping smiling while their eyes examine every detail of my dress, my hair and my jewelry..

Bastian notices it.

The growl he releases this time is so deep, dominant and threatening that more than one wolf whimpers while immediately lowering their head. Even some glasses tremble slightly in the hands of the guests.
