The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon (Celine and Bastian) novel Chapter 20

Chapter 20

Bastian releases my waist and in barely two strides he reaches the young wolf who just spoke. He brutally grabs him by the throat and lifts him off the ground as if he weighs absolutely nothing.

The boy’s eyes widen completely and his face begins turning red while he uselessly struggles to break free Zack’s black claws slowly pierce the skin of his neck, staining the pristine white of his suit and the dark marble floor with crimson blood

The muffled screams and gasps quickly fill the hall, but nobody moves. The terror radiating from the prince is so overwhelming that even some wolves lower their heads in submission again.

“With or without a mark, you do not look at her that way, pup!”

It is Zack speaking now. I know it from the deep, savage, distorted way his voice comes out.

And he said it before. He was not going to allow anyone to look at me inappropriately, but this young wolf crossed the line the moment he mentioned the absence of the mark on my neck.

Bastian lifts him even higher while the boy’s legs kick desperately in the air. His hands try to pry Zack’s grip away, but he

cannot.

And then he violently throws him against one of the enormous columns of the hall.

The sickening crack of bones breaking sends a shiver through my entire body.

But for Zack it is not enough.

He lunges at him again and my feet move on their own when I see his claws rise, ready to rip the young wolf’s head off in front of the entire court.

I grab his hand, stopping him as I kneel beside him and my voice comes out as a trembling plea.

“Forgive him, darling.” This time my voice does not come out as a whisper and it does not tremble either. It rings clearly through the enormous hall and everyone hears it perfectly. “Just this once, let it go. I’m sure he regrets making you angry”

Zack’s red eyes lock completely onto me and the young wolf takes advantage of that moment to drag himself away with painful gasps.

I take my mate’s face between my hands and little by little the beast begins retreating to make room once more for the man. His eyes slowly shift from red to gold and finally back to the deep black I know.

His body remains tense, far too rigid, but Zack finally withdraws.

I let out a long trembling sigh and hug him for the first time in front of the entire court without caring about the shocked murmurs or the horrified stares surrounding us.

I just saved that young wolf’s life.

And I also managed to bring Bastian back to me.

“Easy.” He whispers the moment he feels my arms around him and immediately wraps me completely in his. “It’s alright. Don’t be afraid, it’s me.”

“I know and I’m not afraid of you or your wolf.” I murmur, lightly resting my forehead against his chest. “Just this once, forgive all of them. Can you do that for me?”

I feel tiny beside him.

The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon

Bastian’s gaze finally softens a little and he lifts one hand to move the strand of hair that fell beside my face carefully tucking it behind my ear. The scar above his eyebrow still looks red, a clear sign that he remains furious and is probably internally fighting every one of Zack’s instincts.

He takes a deep breath without stopping looking at me as if I were the only important thing inside the entire throne hall.

And finally he nods.

“Just this once.” This time he raises his voice and the way his eyes slowly sweep across the entire court makes several wolves lower their heads again. “You’ve met her now, and thank your future queen that I’m not slaughtering all of you. Now ge

out!”

The members of the Moon Shadow kingdom’s noble court practically flee in terror when Bastian lets out a second warning growl for them to finally move. One of the women who had glared at me earlier helps the young wolf to his feet while he still remains on the floor beside a small pool of blood.

She glares at me before leaving with the others.

I think that is the kingdom’s queen bee and probably the one who, from now on, will try to make my life miserable.

King Magnus clears his throat and slowly walks toward us while several warriors begin cleaning up the mess as if this were completely normal. Which, considering Alaric’s reaction earlier… probably it is.

“Son, you cannot rip out the throat of every wolf who looks at your Luna. Celine is an exceptionally beautiful young woman.” He places a hand on Bastian’s shoulder and lightly forces him to turn and look at him. “It’s natural to feel jealous, but that doesn’t mean you need to attack them like that. The boy is barely a pup, Basti.”

Bastian takes a step back and immediately removes his father’s hand. He rolls his eyes and exhales as though he has been holding his breath for a long time.

“I’ve spent centuries asking you to stop calling me that.”

I frown slightly when he mentions the word “centuries” again.

How old is he exactly? Because, as far as I knew, Bastian is a pureblood Lycan, not some ancient vampire hiding in a dark castle. He only looks a few years older than me.

The king smiles broadly.

“To me, you’ll always be a little pup, even when you’re almost two hundred and seventeen years old. You’re still my little son.”

I choke on my own saliva. No. He has to be joking.
