The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon (Celine and Bastian) novel Chapter 68

Chapter 68

i carefully get out of bed so I don’t wake her and cover her with the blankets so she won’t feel cold. After giving her one last look. I head to one of the drawers and put on a pair of pajama pants. Annoyed, I walk toward the door because today i had nothing to do except spend the day with my moon, and it’s still far too early for someone to come barging into my chambers.

I yank the door open and step into the hallway to find my Beta.

“What the hell are you doing here so early, Alaric?” I scold him while gently closing the door so I won’t wake Celine

Alaric rolls his eyes. He’s completely soaked, and his workout clothes are dripping water all over my immaculate hallway

“Good morning to you too, idiot.” He grabs my arm and pulls me aside. “Tanner Blackwood and Christian Caldwell are here

I frown.

“Here, in the castle? Why the hell is that useless bastard Tanner in my kingdom if I didn’t summon him?”

Alaric shrugs in response.

1

“I don’t know, but according to the new Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack, his presence has nothing to do with Tanner’s arrival

in the kingdom. Christian came because you called him. The other one… showed up on his own. They’re both waiting downstairs.”

That bastard has no fear of death.

“He came for our moon.”

Zack’s voice echoes like an angry growl inside my mind.

I can’t find any other explanation for him showing up in the kingdom, in our castle, and without a damn invitation.”

My wolf responds with another warning-filled growl, and my own patience begins to fade.

“Let them wait. I’m going to get dressed. Tell Thomas and Jack to wait for me in the office.”

Alaric raises an eyebrow and crosses his arms.

“You’re going to make your moon’s uncle wait?”

“I make my father wait without my pulse even quickening. What makes you think I can’t do the same to Christian Caldwell?”

Alaric shakes his head, and I lower my gaze to the small puddle of water forming beneath his feet.

Suit yourself. I’m going to change before I flood the castle.”

Without waiting for an answer, he walks away down the hallway.

1 step back into the room and quietly close the door. My gaze instinctively drifts toward the bed.

Celine is still asleep.

Her breathing is peaceful, and a small smile appears on my face when I see her hugging one of the pillows I had occupied during the night. Even asleep, she seeks out my scent.

The sight manages to soothe some of the irritation Tanner Blackwood has just awakened inside me.

I shower and dress quickly before heading off to meet with the heads of the Royal Guards.

Christian’s presence here doesn’t surprise me. After all. I was the one who sent a telegram requesting his presence urgently

Ever since the doctors at the pack hospital discovered an anomaly in Celine’s blood, I haven’t stopped worrying. The most absurd and terrifying thoughts keep tormenting me. Hundreds of different scenarios concerning her health invade my mind again and again, stealing my peace even during the happiest moments.

I want… No. I demand that they take a blood sample from her uncle.

And if necessary, from his entire family. I have to find out what is happening.

Because after seeing the change in her eyes, that unreal and unnatural shade of blue for our race….

Damn it, I need answers. I don’t care how long it takes to get them or how many secrets I have to drag into the light, because Celine Miller is my mate, and if there is something strange inside her, something capable of putting her health or her life at risk, I intend to discover it before it has a chance to hurt her.

Even if I have to turn the entire continent upside down to do it.

I leave my chambers once more, giving a cold look to the guards watching the hallway. The moment they see me, their voices grow even quieter, and they both lower their heads.

Annoyed, I head for the stairs to go down to the office and meet with Jack, Alaric, and Thomas.

The fact that Tanner is here without being summoned gives me a bad feeling.

Before leaving, I had left a note beside the bed so that, when she woke up, Celine wouldn’t think I had left after our first night as a mated couple.

I hate having to go downstairs when my intention was to spend the entire day locked away with her, making her mine until 1 was satisfied, watching a movie, or simply holding her, kissing her, and enjoying her company. But Christian Caldwell, her uncle, is here, and I need to speak with him first.

I just hope, by the Goddess, that my plans haven’t gone to hell.

I arrive at the office doors and push them open, finding Jack, Alaric, and Thomas, the new head of Celine’s personal guard.

“Good morning, Your Highness,” the newcomer greets with a respectful nod.

“Good morning.”

Truthfully. I’m not used to people close to me calling me “Your Highness.”

Jack and Alaric have been my friends for practically my entire life, and the last thing that exists between us is respect for protocol.

I take a seat in one of the armchairs and, with a wave of my hand, invite the others to do the same.

“Have you found out why Tanner Blackwood is here without an invitation?”

All three nod, but before any of them can open their mouths, there’s a knock at the door.

“Come in.”

A maid enters and places a tray with freshly brewed coffee and toasted bread on the table.

“Breakfast will be ready in the dining room shortly, Your Highness.”

“Have Luna Celine’s breakfast brought to the chambers and light the fireplace.

As you command, Your Highness.”

“You may leave.”

The young Omega bows quickly and practically flees the office.

I turn my attention back to my Beta while he picks up a cup of coffee.

Thomas, tell the prince what Alpha Tanner told you.”
