Chapter 97

What the hell happened last night? I went from being furious with my mate to partying with my new friend and Grandpa Thorn, and then, out of nowhere, just when I was finally having a good time, Bastian, half-shifted into his wolf/ growled so loudly the club was practically evacuated. Then he threw me over his shoulder like I weighed nothing and brought me pack to the castle to be…
“Oh, God…” A moan escapes my lips as I arch my back. “I can’t take anymore!”
Bastian has been possessing my body and soul ever since we walked into this bedroom before dawn.
“I told you you’d pay for what you did last night, and I’m making good on that promise. Besides, you smell like another wolf. and when I find his scent, I’ll tear him to pieces.”
His eyes turn golden, and the crooked smile he gives me makes me sigh.
First, because whenever Zack surfaces, even a little, my wolf, Astra, enjoys it just as much as I do.
Second, because he looks ridiculously attractive.
And third, because that’s when he becomes even more intense and thrusts even harder.
I’ve lost count of how many times he made me scream his name, or how many orgasms nearly destroyed me.
“Face down. Hands behind your back.”
I collapse onto the mattress, exhausted.
“I’m not finished with you.”
I hear him behind me, and when I don’t obey…
Smack!
The slap he lands on my backside burns…
Deliciously.
“No more, please.”
His low chuckle sends shivers racing across my skin.
“Tell me, sweetheart. Did you enjoy dancing with other males, drinking, and getting drunk without telling me where you were going?”
He slides back inside me, this time stopping and bracing himself on his elbows on either side of my head.
“Did you enjoy making me lose my mind and search the entire kingdom for you because you got jealous of Nadia?” he growls, thrusting again with a rhythm that nearly steals my breath.
My hair clings to my sweat-soaked body, my face, my neck…
I’m an absolute mess, dangerously close to another orgasm.
But I smile wickedly.

“My scent will stay on you for weeks after this.”
Don’t ask me how I do it, because I don’t understand it myself.
I turn over, shove him until he’s the one lying on the mattress, and climb on top of him.
His hands move to my waist to lift me, and…
The slap I land across his face is probably waking the servants and startling the guards in the hallway.

Bastian has no idea where that came from, but I can feel Astra taking partial control. My fingers lengthen, and my nails become claws that slice across the skin of his chest.
“We didn’t go out because we were jealous,” my wolf snaps. “We left because you made us feel insignificant. Invisible. Your little friend stayed in our castle as if it were a hotel. Then you took her off somewhere, and you left me… alone with the vipers of the court. They insulted me again. They humiliated me again. And you weren’t there. Not to mention you never introduced me to that… woman. You didn’t come to dinner, and I waited for you for hours.”
I slowly roll my hips over his hard length, prolonging the friction just enough to massage my most sensitive spot and let the final wave of pleasure ripple through my entire body.
A delicious shudder runs from head to toe as I find release one last time…
Deliberately denying him his own.
His breathing turns heavy.
Mine does too.
With a small smile of satisfaction, I slowly sit up, brush a damp strand of hair away from my cheek, and climb out of bed without looking back.
My legs still tremble slightly as I walk naked toward the bathroom. The cool air brushes against my flushed, oversensitive skin before I turn on the shower.
Hot water pours over my head in a steady stream, running through my hair, down my back, and across my shoulders, gradually washing away the sweat still covering my body.
“That’ll teach him.”
“Absolutely, Astra. He deserves it for being so arrogant.”
My wolf and I laugh at the same time as I massage shampoo through my hair. Fragrant lather fills the shower while steam begins to fog the glass partition in front of me.
Beyond the bathroom door, I can still hear Bastian grumbling from the bed.
Every growl pulls an even wider smile onto my lips as the hot water runs over my body.
And for the first time since we returned to the castle, I don’t feel the slightest bit guilty.
Last night’s outing had never been about jealousy.
Aymara, Grandpa, and I hadn’t gone out because Nadia was close to him.
We left because I felt ignored.
Because he left me alone when I needed him most.

Because he allowed those vipers to humiliate me all over again while he was somewhere else.
if he still wasn’t capable of understanding the difference, then he needed to think a little harder.
When I step out of the shower, I wrap a towel around myself and leave the bathroom. I walk into the dressing room to find the training clothes I barely had time to wear for a few minutes before all that madness began last night.
He’s no longer in bed.
