The Secret Heirs of the Lycan King (Bella and scott) novel Chapter 139

Chapter 139

Chapter 139

Bella POV

The moment we crossed into the lower chambers of the witch prison, the air felt heavier. It was thicker. There was dense fog inside and the temperature was freezing as we advanced further.

The corridor narrowed as we walked, the light dimmer here. The silence was occasionally broken by distant echoes that sounded pained. The smell of copper mixed with that of blood and oil and wax wafted.

I slowed my steps feeling fear, my hand tightening around Scott’s arm as we moved forward. And I placed one arm over my belly protectively.

This place keeps them alive,Nancy said as she walked ahead of us. But it does not allow them peace,” she explained in a clinical, as if she were explaining the rules of a system rather than the suffering of witches out here.

When we entered the chamber, my breath caught.

Lucy and Rowan were there.

They were not side by side, but they were close enough that I could see both of them clearly. The room was wide, carved deep into the earth, with symbols etched into the floor and walls. Chains of light and shadow crisscrossed the space. There were not physical chains, but restraints that were made of magic. Rowan was bound more tightly than Lucy, her body suspended slightly above the ground, her arms held apart, her head lifted by an invisible force that would not allow her to look away from what was happening around her.

Lucy was on the ground.

She was bruised, her clothes torn and stained, her body was curled in a fetal position, like she was trying to survive this horror. Blood marked her skin in thin lines and darker patches, and her breathing was shallow and uneven. She looked nothing like the woman who had once walked around with a sense of control and superiority. She looked fragile.

Before I could fully process what I was seeing, movement caught my eye.

A group of witches stood near Rowan. They raised their hands slightly, murmuring spells that made the air vibrate. I could feel their magic caressing against my own skin even though it was not meant for me. It flowed toward Rowan in waves, striking her again and again, forcing her power down and tearing at her defenses.

Rowan screamed. It was a scream of rage mixed with pain. It was raw and unrestrained. Her body arched against the restraints, and I saw her instinctively push back with her own magic, even though she was weakened.

That was when something horrifying happened.

Rowan twisted suddenly and she forced the magic away. It deflected away from her and slammed into Lucy instead.

Lucy’s body jerked violently. A high scream tore from her throat, and she collapsed completely, her head striking the stone floor. Blood spilled from her mouth, and her body convulsed before going still.

I gasped sharply and clutched Scott’s arm without thinking.

Seeing me, the witches stopped for a moment, clearly startled. Rowan was already struggling again, her power flaring in wild, desperate bursts. It was like she was making sure that Lucy was punished as much as she was.

This is not meant to kill them,Nancy said, clearly displeased with the witches as she stepped closer. But it is not meant to be merciful either.

I swallowed hard, my gaze fixed on Lucy as she lay there, barely conscious, her chest rising and falling unevenly. She looked like someone hanging onto life by instinct alone, not because she wanted to live, but because her body refused to let go.

Chapter 139

I felt a shudder inside. Scott pulled me firmly against his chest, his arm wrapping around me protectively, his other hand pressing against my back. I felt the tension ripple through him as his Lycan pushed forward instinctively. The z heavy with his warning. Scott would tear them apart without hesitation if something happened to me.

I buried my face briefly against him, my heart pounding.

I’m here,he murmured, his voice low and dangerous. You’re safe.

Nancy turned sharply toward the witches working on Rowan, her expression dark with irritation. Enough, she said coldly.

The witches froze immediately.

Nancy walked toward Rowan, Rowan snarled at her, her eyes blazing with fury, her lips pulled back as she struggled uselessly against the restraints.

You think this hurts me?Rowan spat. You think I care?

Nancy didn’t answer her. She raised one hand, and Rowan’s body stilled instantly, locked in place by a spell so strong it made the air crackle. Then she reached for the table beside her, where several objects lay neatly arranged. She picked up silver threads, glowing faintly with runes etched along their length. Without hesitation, she stepped closer to Rowan and drove the threads cleanly through her wrists.

Rowan screamed, her eyes going wide in fear,

The silver threads anchored her power completely. They severed the flow of magic through her body. This will keep you in check,” Nancy said darkly.

Rowan’s breathing became ragged. She twisted her head toward me, her eyes burning with hatred so intense it made my skin crawl. Suddenly, her focus sharpened, and even without understanding magic fully, I knew she was trying to cast magic to curse me with nothing but her eyes.

Nancy reacted instantly. She stepped between us and placed a dark blindfold over Rowan’s eyes, sealing her senses and cutting off whatever remaining power she had.

That will be enough of that,” Nancy growled.

Silence fell over the chamber as all of us waited. Rowan finally stopped moving, knowing fully well that she was completely trapped.

Lucy stirred weakly on the floor, coughing, blood staining her lips. She was still alive. Her body was trembling as if it might give out at any moment.

I stared at her. It felt like justice was finally catching up with both of them. And as heavy disgust rose slowly in my chest, I realized that I had not yet heard the worst of it. Nancy had more in store for Rowan, and she was going to let me deal with Lucy. Witch to a witch. Human to a human.

Nancy looked at him with her violet eyes. Your turn, Bella, she said, waving at Lucy, who had sat up.
