She gripped the metal wall with a gasp of terror grateful that she landed where she’d intended. For a flicker of the briefest fraction of a second, she’d imagined how horrible it would be to land on top of the elevator or worse under it as it was plummeting.

She reached out and touched the button to bring her back to her own floor and when she stepped off the floor she was surprised to see all of her office mates standing around her desk as if desperately waiting for her return.

“Oh, good grief,” she muttered under her breath. “I wonder if there are magical tricks I can do to make them disappear from my business.” Stomping to her desk she looked at Shelly and Clint, “now what?”

“Did you see what the CEO’s office posted?”

“Yeah.” She grunted and pointed her finger to the ceiling, “I literally just came back from the office.”

“It’s so cool. Wilder Vaughn is incredibly hot, and he got his office to post a statement on your behalf.” Shelly was barely whispering as she darted her eyes in the direction of Percy’s closed office door. “What was it like? Up there all alone with

“Did you know he has a twin?” she asked Shelly curiously. “How did I never know he has a twin?”

“He has a twin?”

“Yeah. Apparently owns some hotel chain called Royal R or something.”

Clint’s knees buckled, “no way.”

“You’ve heard of it?”

“Well yeah. You haven’t?” Clint’s voice took on a high–pitched quality which made Jacqueline contemplate taking the pencil she was holding and jamming it into her ear hole. “It’s the sexiest line of hotels on the planet. There is one on every continent I’m sure and they’re all the same. High–end, elite, and they don’t let anyone who isn’t a millionaire stay. It’s like where the richest people go to avoid the actresses and actors of the world. You’ve never heard of it?”

“No. I didn’t.”

“Are they identical twins?” Shelly asked curiously.

“They look nearly identical. They are very different though.”

“Why was he up there?”

“So, you’re not fired for telling off a barista?”

“Nope.”

“And you still get to oversee the account that Percy recommended for you?”

“Yup.” She gave a loud sigh, “does Wilder always work alongside the account manager for the big accounts?”

“The really big ones, yeah. You’re calling him Wilder instead of Mr. Vaughn?”

“He told me to.” She shrugged carelessly. Wilder was sure as hell better than calling him mate, whatever the fuck that meant. She was aware of only a few things about mates. Most fae only had one. Most of them had green or red bonds. It was clearly meant to be a couple thing, like husbands and wives. She also knew, the entire time she’d been surrounded by the two men in the CEO’s office, she was incredibly attracted to them, and she needed to fight her own muscles not to lunge at them. They were gorgeous men and they both exuded a kind of power and yet, she forced herself to remain aloof and reserved as much as possible so she couldn’t be mocked later for panting like a dog in heat. She wrinkled her nose and wondered if her ability to maintain her composure was a royal trait. She smirked as she thought of the fact she really did have a family out there who was apparently kings, queens, princes, and princesses.

just proud is all. I finally get my chance to pitch to a client. I’m excited and maybe a bit smug about it. Wilder said he liked my idea. It feels good to know my hard work over the last several years is finally being recognized and validated.”

“You work harder than all of us put together. You deserve this,” Clint waved around the room. “There isn’t a single person in this department who thinks you don’t. Kick ass when you do your pitch. I hope you land it.”

“Thanks Clint.”

“Well, get at it and if you need to do a practice run, let me know. I’m happy to collaborate with you. We can go into the room over there and you can practice.”

The phone on her desk rang and she frowned as she looked at the display. She picked it up. “Hello?”

“If you go into a room alone with that man, I will eviscerate

him.”

“Wilder.” She groaned his name. “Not funny. Are you spying on

me?”

“You are my mate. Mine. Do not let that little pointy nosed twerp try to get you into a room alone. He’s going to try to get your number and into your panties.”
